Has anyone else had the ABS light come on after this mod? Upon startup the light does not come on but when you actuate the singal stalk (either for turn signal or headlight on) the abs light comes on steady. Any way around this?

Alright alright I know this thread is years old but I have a 2014 without the highend side mirrors which have turn signals, I live in a place with a concentrated amount of entitled impatient people and i cant believe toyota built this truck without any kind of turn indicators visible from any other angle than the direct front or back. factory dtrl seem to cause an issue on any kind of tapping into the front indicators to a side marker for an indicator and i dont feel like getting so involved as tearing the doors apart n spending boatloads of time n money on upgrading the mirrors. any help on this old mod would be appreciated.

I've been wanting to do the same thing and I found a you tube video where they did a 3rd gen swap with heated and turn signals. Has any one else done this swap?

Free since I had leftover edge trim from when I chopped my fenders up. I made some knee savers for my bed stiffners. Use my ignorance as a lesson and don't find out yourself why I did this.

I used old tubing (split open of course), but yours looks much better.
I did it originally to save any cargo that might get drug over the steel (like furniture or plywood). So, you have a better motivator too.

Today I made a phone/gps holder based on the A pillar mod. So far it works great. I still need to run a charge cable but that will happen another day. It took longer to get the angle just right than it does to assemble the mounting stuff. Using the "elbow" mounting arm let me get it into the perfect spot far away from the turn signal with the perfect viewing angle. The sail panel is the only thing being blocked. No windshield blockage at all.

Another location that is probably good for the diff relocation mod is in the storage bin above the wheel well.diff breather mod3.jpg

De-chroming. Replaced the chrome outer mirror covers with oem black... looks great.
    Purchased from ToyotaPartsDeal.com
    Part numbers: 87945-04070-C0 & 87915-04070-C0
Next up is to replace the fog light bezels. Have them, just need to install.
    Part numbers: PT353-35160-AA & PT353-35160-AB

I'm going to sell the chrome mirror covers, which are slightly oxidized, for the cost of shipping.

Posted before and after shots, as well as the chrome covers.

A few years ago that the chrome plating on my 2nd gen grill was starting to peel away. Letting my ocd kick in, I got out the pliers and and methodically peeled the rest off. Ya, it took hours... Didn't like the chrome anyway. After sanding it smooth, I gave it several coats of flat black. I was very happy with the results... until after a year or so the paint was looking pretty weathered and was starting to chip. After a few repaints and additional frustration over the years, I hit on an idea. I purchased from Amazon a roll of flat black vinyl wrap (~$20) and a custom black insert (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008D6ZJOA?ie=UTF8&th=1). Took me about an hour to cut out the center, sand and clean the surface before wrapping the outer frame. Once it was wrapped, I mounted the insert. It's been running this way for several years now and the vinyl has held up much better than the paint ever did.
