    Here is a picture of the shield covering the Oxygen sensor. The other picture I took is showing the Oxygen sensor from above the exhaust.

    Can you access the nuts? I didnt have a heat shield when I did mine. Is it removable? Cant you just take it off and put it on the new one. The only reason I see that being there is to protect it from the exhaust. Not a big deal if you dont have it on the new one.

    Not without removing that shield. Looks like others have just cut it off from what I have seen on this forum.

    Light bar and bumper guard, 3/16 steel skid plates for engine, tranny and transfer box, OME 881 springs with 5100 shocks at mid clip. AAL in rear. Positraction rear diff.
    Here is the service manual. Scrowl down about have way to heated Oxygen sensor for a diagram layout.

    The service manual does not say anything about a heat shield whatsoever.

    Its prob a o2. Mine is on because of that after 256k miles on my 96. Its not bad its kinda pointless

    So far: Tint American Racing Wheels with 265/75-15
    Ok so this same thing happened to me and I took it to a shop had the code read and the O2 sensor replaced but that didn't fix it and I finally dug around on the net enough and found it could be just a dirty Mass Air Flow Sensor so If I were you I would look into that before paying up for those O2 sensors.

    I bought some M8 - 1.25 13mm wrench size replacement nuts from my local hardware store. Those will work fine right? I have read people use the Toyota specific nuts because they are supposedly heat resistant. Does it really matter? lol I paid .70 cents a piece for the locknuts.

    Meh, shouldnt matter. Mine were falling apart by the time i took them out. So corroded it didnt matter. I just found some 13mm nuts laying around and threw them on.

    New Mods in the works.
    I would recommend that you spend the extra $5 and get a 13mm tap and run it through the threads with a bit of that PB Blaster just to clean everything up. Make sure you use some kind of lube on the SS bolt like a high temp anti seize(get it from autozone, etc, in a small pack at the counter) to ensure it doesn't gall on you. Stainless has a tendency to do that.

    +1 to this. The OBD is not 100% accurate. you can get a can of MAF cleaner and spray it down easily. I recommend you don't pull the sensor itself out, but pull the air tube it is mounted in and spray it inside of the tube. Those MAF sensors are delicate, and expensive.
