This thread is intended to be used for those wanting to lose weight and have a little friendly fun while doing so.

    @Sje1124 @because_minitruck

    Anyone else? Jump in!

No real rules to this, but I'm thinking each week we have a weigh in day and post the scales either in number or in picture - your call/comfort level. Not for challenge purpose since weight really is no reflection of health, nor is it the only reflection of progress - but it does provide some level of accountability which I know, personally, I need.

Either way, weigh in (no pun intended) on a loose structure of how this is going to work for each person.

Myself will be using myfitnesspal.com (available as an app or via computer) to have some accountability for my meals and food/water intake, and my daily goals with steps and activity. In order to further help me, I'm sponsoring myself with a Fitbit Charge HR and will sync it to my phone. I don't have the money or much time for a gym membership, but rolling that in as a reward for my weight loss if I hit my goal weight.

The rest is up to you, the individual. We don't all need to take the same steps or roads, the goal is the goal, though hopefully everyone gets there on a healthy path. This is not a contest!

I have a broad structure so for me I was pretty happy at 230 lbs. @LTDSC is similar height and I'm sure closer to 200 lbs, and doesn't look sickly - also has a smaller frame than I do.

But, for me I think 230-235 lbs and increasing muscle mass and tone is the key to comfort with myself. I've taken my shirt off (in public) only for tattoos, probably since 8th grade. That's it.

I grew nearly a foot in only a few months when I was a kid and have the scars to show it, which both makes me timid and pretty conscientious.

I say weigh in every Wednesday give people time to possibly cheat over the weekend and not destroy their weigh in

    Current pics, might as well.

Scale weight reflects my pasta dinner, 3 cups of water and basketball shorts and my favorite, shit beat old t shirt.

This scale on my upstairs floor is never the same weight from one second to the next, so for actual weigh ins it'll be moved to my garage and it's concrete floor should help with accuracy.

I'm actually 250lbs believe it or not. Not anything cut or the like. I keep active and try to eat right. Would love to be more cut than I am but I teeter the line of being lazy and doing fun workouts like biking and hiking.

I too rarely swim, from being a fat teen I have scars from being fat and growing so fast. On top of my bad teen acne, I'm never comfortable with my shirt off publicly.

I like using myfitnesspal as well for tracking my calories and food trends. I'll keep up with this thread for sure. I lost over 100lbs from 19-23 and I know how hard it is and a support system is huge.

So I'm going to start no later than July 4th 11pm as that is when my very sentimental 99 taco was t-boned and totalled 3 years ago. It may sound silly to some, but that truck meant the world to me and that night marked the beginning of a dark time for me. After the wreck I stopped exercising because of pain and then once I was healed, i was out of shape and never got back into exercise and eventually started to rapidly gain weight. Also I'm a smoker and left handed, so if I don't take control I'm fucking halfway dead at 27.

I'm subbed to follow along and provide direction, encouragement, and support where I can. I have been on a journey myself, but it has been different than the struggle of controlling weight gain.

    Good luck everyone!

The support is here, the people on the same path are here, and so is the knowledge. There is no better time than right now.

You'd be extremely surprised by how quickly a change in your diet can affect your health and weight. Exercise doesn't make you lose weight, but only adds to calories burned in a day. Usually you make up those calories with some extra food. A 240 lb man jogging at 5 mph for 1 hour (5 miles ) will only burn about 900 calories. and he will consume almost all of those back if he eats an extra chocolate bar and bag of chips. But if you begin to eat healthier, cleaner foods, you will be able to eat the same amount of food without reaching the same amount of calories. Losing weight is all about the amount of calories you intake and the amount of calories you burn.
