I am pumped for the first official weigh in tomorrow. No do i weigh in before or after dead lifts? Hmmmmmm...

Weight lifting and exercise are a large part of my journey. Diet is the majority of it, but weight training and cardio can take results to a whole 'nother level. Lifting weights isn't only going to burn calories while you're lifting, but it increases your metabolism and helps you burn calories for the next day or so.

I saw a post about feeling lost in the gym. For those falling into this category, check out the starting strength program. It is very basic and easy to follow, and I can speak speak personally for the results.

I've got the opposite problem. Wife weighs 110, eats as much as she wants. I weigh 2 times her,yet eat half. Its hard to keep my proportions to a manageable size.

My opinion, we tend to get hung up on events like this and start compensating and over-compensating unnecessarily. You need to allow yourself room to have "events" like this happen, cuz they will. Best to try and keep them to only once/twice a week and keep going with your cardio/weights and your eating plan as normal. Beating yourself up will just work against you.

Weigh yourself on a consistent schedule. If you weigh yourself first thing in the morning before any food, liquids, whatever, make sure you do that every time. If you weigh yourself after deadlifts and drinking water, stick with that.

That's where I'm at! Wife is less than half of my size. A line we said 2 years ago we didn't want to cross, but we're past it now. Really need to reverse that trend.

I've had periods of my adult life when I stuck to a diet for some time and dropped lots of weight. 20years old I did Atkins and dropped 30 lbs in 2 mos. I emerged from that diet tying to compensate for every carb eaten with active exercise, and eventually my college lifestyle caught up with me and I was back to 220+ again. Dropped a ton of weight through a crazy relationship with a nutjob girl who spent all our money on drugs. Moved away and got a good job, money, and the weight came back. Juice cleansed for 10 days a la Fat Sick and Nearly Dead, and felt fantastic. Just couldn't stick with it. Again, slowly crept up with weight and a few meds that have pushed me up to as big as ever. I don't feel as unhealthy as before, as I'm not smoking and drinking, but I'm sure bigger than I want.

Good luck, guys. I am late (or early?) to the party, started my weight loss plan in January. Started at my fattest ever, somewhere around 275, I'm 5'9. Currently down to maybe 200, I don't have a scale. Pants went from 44 to 36. I'd like to make 160, or size 30 pants.

I realized it was time for a change when I went to buy a shirt for a job interview and most of the 2x were too small...

Anyway, it does really help to have some accountability like you are doing here. For me, it's a few of my fat friends and me getting after it.

Actually, if anybody using MyFitnessPal wants me to add their MFP username next to their TW username in the OP, let me know - then anybody can follow anybody/everybody can follow everybody.

I'll add mine, if anybody else wants to do the same please send your MFP username via PM.

Yeah, but via PM I don't have to go through each post looking for anybody who wants it added.

Just a bunch of old crap
Loving the form idea in the OP. Just put in today's weight. Forgot to put my starting stats, so here they are:

Stats as of today: 6'1", 236.9#, 42 yrs old

    Heaviest adult weight: 263#
    Lightest adult weight: 222#

Goal weight by Aug. 1: 219#

Using Myfitnesspal for a couple years, but haven't used it for a few months so I'm restarting it today.

*edit - forgot to mention that I was 251# only 4 weeks ago. My metabolism finally found some good momentum with regular exercise (mix of trail hiking for cardio, stairmaster at the gym, and gym weight routine). Eating good whole foods has been a HUGE key for me.

Alright so what is it, three days now? How's everyone feeling and doing. Tip Of the day. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Studies have proven and shown drink 2 8oz glasses of cold water right before a meal will not only help you consume less but spike your metabolism as well.

Not too bad. Only thing was I had 2 pieces of pizza that was not planned. Hopefully I can get some exercise in to counter the effects.

That's awesome and I say that because dude you're human it happens. The good thing is you're not dead and it's not the end of the world. Don't beat yourself up over and move past it. do 5 more walking running if you feel that bad but don't let it consume you.

Normally, I would have had 5 pieces. I'm counting this as a "win".

    Thanks for the help.
