I don't otherwise try to quantify calories burned.

When I do, I'll just MFPal as an estimate.

Holy. Too much calorie talk. Lol
I didnt even consider calorie counting when i signed up. I know what parts of my diet need to change and that i need to be more active. Keep it simple and easy is my direction here.
Though i can see how complicating things a bit could keep you a little more interested in the game plan.

its pretty simple. eat less calories than you do now, move more.

Tracking your own calorie intake is wise to know if you're on pace to be less than previous or over. Not all that complicated.

If you've never tracked your intake calories, id bet you dont realize how quickly 2000 calories is.

Tracking calories also gives you a better idea of actual weigh gained/lost vs water weight gained/lost

This is all very much personality based. Some people like the gadgets and the detailed logging and watching it all very closely (not me....). Some people take the simpler approach and correct/replace eating habits, some slowly, some all at once, and workout habits on a more macro level(this be me...).

I very much tend to skip by the "I ate this just now..." and/or "I have this many calories left to eat..." I find it too counter productive as then it's all I think about and it makes the desire to eat or skip a workout worse. But this is me, what works for me, doesn't for someone else, and what doesn't work for me, does for others. We all have to figure ourselves out and do what works for you.

    Reserected from the dead.
Try working swing shift and counting calories. MFP doesn't know when one day starts and a previous day ends.

Its do easy to go over when you forget to pack lunch. The vending machine "wheel of death" is never calorie friendly.

So say i were to track calories. Is there a website that tells you what foods have how much per weight?
Can certain foods if eatin together counteract how youll absorb or burn off calories? New to this taking care of the body thing.

Maybe I just don't believe this to be true.

I eat half that many calories and am not shedding pounds.

Just a bunch of old crap
I hate all of the tracking, but I have to admit that calorie tracking in a good app is VERY effective. You don't really realize how much you consume until you take the time to track it. Give it one week as a test, and I think you'll be amazed.

I'll jump in here. 5'11". 265 max. 250 current. Having some luck with getting back into running and cycling and cutting back on the suds. Looking to hit 200 which is where I was most of my time in the Navy when I was typically in the better shape all around. Hope to see some good things here!

    What are you eating?
Make sure you're not eating too little, if your body doesn't feel like it's getting enough food it will go into "starvation mode" where it packs away everything it can, especially fat, which leads to a plateau or weight gain.

I gained weight eating more than 2500 calories a day. That's why I went from 275 to 280 and now 290.

I've never eaten over 3k calories, so if I'm in starvation mode, I've been in starvation mode for a decade.

Just don't see how almost 4K calories a day is my maintain number. Eating 1800/2000 calories a day is my normal intake and has been on average for a very long time. Sometimes more - 2500 +/-

I went from 320-235 in a year by working my ass off (my job was heavy labor intensive) and I was eating fast food 3-4 times a day 5-6 days a week, and I'd probably get 5k calories without issue during those days. Couldn't keep weight, my coworkers thought I was on drugs or something.

Now I eat way healthier, generally, and my calories have dropped to a normal amount. Can't imagine 3700 is my daily needs and less than that will cause weight loss. I just don't see that.

Didn't do too bad on my eating today for how shitty of a day it was.
1800 calories in and no soda, but I did have a glass of sweet tea.

Jake is that about how your goal macros look?

I think I eat too many carbs, wondering if I should be checking macros a little better
