47, broken down from 22 years of hauling heavy shit all over doing combat comm crap. While it was fun, my back/knees/ankle ain't what they used to be. Sucks when a doctor orders you to stop playing basketball because you're a danger to yourself and others.

Body armor does help keep the pounds off.

    6'
    Fighting weight - 200
    Retirement weight - 215
    Current weight - 280

Went from being super active to spending 45 hours a week behind a computer. I miss having 5 hours of gym time as a mandatory job requirement. Up early to be at work at 7, and no motivation to exercise when I get home.

    It's a vicious cycle.

Trying to find my motivation. I think it went to Goodwill in my size 36 jeans.

Might I suggest Atkins, and exercise? I suffered greatly in my joints @ 340#, thought it was from carrying all the weight. When I stopped the processed correctly carbs that stopped within days. Obviously I had not list any weight, and therefore my hypothesis about the weight was wrong. Also, my appetite came in check. Hell I had to have a reminder to eat!
My cholesterol levels were crazy when I tried "low fat diets". On Atkins, the levels are superb.
Ketogenic diets are safe for most people. I did mine at the encouragement of a physician. YMMV
    Again good luck!

My struggle is not drinking craft beer and friends, lol. Every time I cut back on drinking they show up with something different.

Did that once - dropped from 215 to 196 in two weeks. I was 30, though...

Steady slow paced weight loss for sustainability... different approaches work for different people... you have to find what works for you of course, but I do think that it's always about sustained live style change.

    I'm in.
    230 presently
    Goal of 199
    5'10"
Fairly active, walk 10 miles per week,750-1000 pushup per week, bike around 5 miles per week.exercise does nothing for my weight. Diet is the only thing that works.

Love my beer, even shitty light beer adds to my weight.

I'm going to cut down to 3 beers per week. Meal portions will need to be reduced. I eat mostly low cal meals, but eat way too much.

I have the myfitnesspal app as well.

Ill get a picture up later. Oddly enough, out the door to hit the rail trail for some biking.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I'm in... I just recently came to the conclusion that I am eating like garbage, and I can't be. With diabetes running in my family, I need to start taking charge of my health better than I am. I don't want to be on meds for the rest of my life. I already feel some pre-symptoms and am going to work my ass off to get rid of them.

    31.
    250lbs
    6'0" even.

    Heaviest, 255lbs.
Lightest since HS, 199lbs (back to back deployments).

I haven't weighed below 215 since 3 years ago, and I hope to get back close to that weight within the next 6-8 months. I'll be rejoining myfitnesspal and making sure I log every item I do.

This is going to be a long road, and obviously my wife won't support me like she should. She thinks I am "fine," as she said 3 years ago when I did this same thing.

QFT. Nothing like a deployment to wring the fat off of you. Ate like a pig and still lost weight.

I still miss the short order cooks on the breakfast line who would add corned-beef hash to my omelets.

    I'm in.
I've been a big boy most of my life except for in high school when I was a gym rat and football jock.

    I'm 34
    6'1
Currently 305 and probably a safe bet to say my heaviest
Lightest was 235 about 8 years ago. I went on huge health kick and dropped 40 in about three months. Gained all that back when I lost my job due to being laid off.

I am a fat kid at heart and love food and sweets. Throw the fact that I'm a chef that can be a bad thing because I never have a consistent schedule with the craziness we deal with.

I would love to drop to 255 and ultimately 235. Anything less than that I feel may be to small for my frame.

Good luck everyone. I'm here with ya'll

Guys, especially with summer upon us, don't forget to drink plenty of water too. Not only will it help you stay hydrated, but it's also good for you. Plus it has been known to help with weight loss if you drink a full glass or two of ice water about 15-30 minutes before eating.

Sub'ing for now. I'm the heaviest I've been since 2004. Need to get back on track. Moving to an office job killed me. I'll post my weight when I am comfortable to step back on a scale.

Good job fellas!! it ain't easy, but it all boils down to discipline. I was once at 285lbs got it down to 205lbs with strict diet, followed by exercising 5-6 days a week w/ 1-2 cheat meals through out the week to keep me sane. It's hard to loose the weight, but even harder to maintain. Since all that weight loss 2 years ago, I got back up to 255 SMH. About 2 months ago got myself back in gym, and been eating right (almost) for the past 2 months as well, and have been hovering around 240.

Co-workers give me shit, for eating like a rabbit, but ive gotten use to it LOL. Its becoming the norm for me to eat clean now, I just have to cut back on my alcohol consumption. It will be tough W/ the Finals staring thursday LOL..

Sub'd for now. Thanks to OP for getting this thread going. After reading through I ended up getting My Fitness Pal and am trying to get on track. Haven't been on a scale in a while but from last time it wasn't good.
