Didn't eat super clean today, had biscuits and grits for lunch because the grandparents were in town and insisted I eat with them. Wasn't a bad day overall though, had chicken and brown rice with veggies for supper and that evened it out.
Ended up at just over 2K calories in, workout was an estimated 700 burned.

Did this workout this afternoon as well, feeling it in my abs (I did some Russian twists and sit-ups with a 12lb medicine ball as 2 sets of abs) but my legs are still sore as well.

Rest day today, pretty sore but not to bad, spent an extra 3.5 hours at work doing deliveries so I got a little workout hauling washers/dryers and freezers up and down stairs.
Tomorrow I'm gonna run 2.5 though.

Box jump is now on the highest notch, it comes up to the middle of my knee cap now.
Abs were varied (O/C means on coach) and it they were 4 sets of 5, so 20 per set (she didn't write it on the board right), gonna be sore tonight i think, while it wasn't a ton of AB work it was different than what i have been doing (more lower abs and side obliques) so it felt great.

Ran 1.75 after the workout as well, I wanted to go 2.5 but the squats and box jump were causing my legs to tighten up and I didn't want to risk cramps.

I hit the gym today and did 4.25 miles in 50 minutes. Weighed myself and I'm up 2 #s from last week, 229#s. I know it's my diet that's got me, I'm running probably 12 miles a week plus an hour a week on the elliptical in addition to walking a few miles daily at work. I feel better and lost a lot of fat in my legs, my gut is another story. I think I need to get serious about my diet or I'm wasting time busting my ass at the gym

    What's your diet looking like?
A portion of the 2#'s could be water depending on how well you were hydrated when you weighed today vs last week.

I'm doing pretty well Monday thru Friday but the weekends I bust the diet to hell. Too many sodas, heavy dinners and snacking. It was my grandsons 12 birthday yesterday so I took him out for dinner and of course cake and icecream. All the crap that's bad.

Sodas are a big thing, tons of sugar.
Well you gotta splurge sometime and your grandsons birthday is a great reason to do so.

Do you do anything other than cardio?
Doing some some simple body weight exercises (such as squats, planks, jumping jacks, tricep dips, sit-ups, etcétera) could potentially boost your metabolism a little more than just cardio.

I was always taught to do some type of light muscle (weights/body weight) workout before cardio because it's an easy way to boost your burn for a workout.

That's good advice, Ill try mixing in a little light muscle exercises. I do planks and stretching exercises prior to heading off to the gym. I jacked up my back last summer, buldging disk was aggravating my sciatic nerve and could barely walk for about 4 months. I guess I'm alittle snake bit when it comes to doing any heavy lifting. I want to get back to riding my bike this spring something I really enjoyed doing.

Sorry about your back issues, they suck.

Just ease into it and listen to what your body tells you, my dad worked out for a few weeks with us and his back improved (he has a bulged disk and herniated disk) but didn't end up committing to it (he's almost as stubborn as I am) so he's back to the point where anything more than lightly strenuous will put him in bed for a few days.

Biking is a lot of fun, I have a full suspension mountain bike that I rarely ride (no riding partners) but it's a blast to go out and cruise the beach with.

I was better behaved than I thought. Only had 2 Blue Moon beers at the hockey game. Was expecting to pig out on pizza as well. The beers filled me up and I was good.

I haven't checked a scale in a week, but hope to see that I haven't gained.

I need a good meal that I can cook with the grill.

My normal grilling menu is as follows:

Steamed artichoke, beets, carrots and corn on the cob.

I may bake a couple of medium potatoes.

Usually a small, very lean steak, or salmon steamed in foil on the grill.

The potatoes will get sour cream and the vegetables will get 2-3 pats of real butter.

Please don't suggest chicken. The only way I like that is in soup.

Ill have 3 Mick ultra beers during grilling and dining.

Anyone feel like suggesting alternatives, I'm all ears.

I can't recommend anything for veggies, they're not my strong suit.

For meat I would keep with fish or steak, I personally prefer carne asada (Thin sliced beef) and ground beef.
If you go with the carne asada there are several good recipes to marinate it in online.

Potatoes are high in carbs and starch, I would half the potato and increase the meat a little to keep the calories up.

If you want other carbs try brown rice, (I know, not on the grill) rice usually goes with chicken but you can incorporate it into other dishes.

Medal for my 5K came in today so I'm excited.
    IMG_5474.jpg

Got a decent workout today as well, 1 mile run, weights (arms) and another 1 mile run.
    IMG_5471.jpg

Ate right at 1,700 calories and my workout was approximately 800 burned so I should've eaten more but I didn't.
Shoulders are already sore so tomorrow will be a rest day.

Ill back off on the potatoes. I actually thought I might be getting to much.

I did behave and only eat a half of a burger with only mustard.

We did start anew routine. The wife and I decided to go for a 1 mile walk after dinner. (Doing that now) at the mall.

Been super busy between work and school so I haven't been able to post.

Warm up today was 1 mile, did it in 12:30
    Workout was 5 rounds of
    Jumping jacks-20
    Push ups -10
    Squats -20

60 minutes walking up hill. Treadmill says 340 calories spent.

    Off to work I go.
