i know you’re asking someone else, but I bought my 2020 tundra October 4, 2019. After many free extensions given, it finally expired this spring (March roughly) and the fob still starts my truck today

no worries, and I’m sure we all appreciate the info. I think it’d be fun/interesting to have a poll in this thread to show who still has this function and when their subscription ended.

I think I had 1 year free on the Entune but it may have only been 6 months. A year would have been the end of March 2021.
I know it still works as I started the truck this past Saturday remotely to get the AC started.

All my research agrees with you, but nonetheless I don’t have the app functionality. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the app, I poked around in the head unit. Lots of googling, nothing. I wonder if it has anything to do with the rework of Entune and disabling of most apps on the 21’s. I might call Toyota today, see if anyone can help. Being able to start via the app is much more useful for me than the fob, and I guess I’m in the minority here that’s willing to pay for it haha.

You aren't alone, if it worked on the 6MT I would get it as well! It would be nice to be able to start it ahead of time to heat up or cool down before I got in there, depending on the time of year. Luckily right now I'm working from home though (as so many are), so my truck lives in the garage and I don't really need it. But if I have to go back to going into the office and parking outside during the day, then I might consider the N2 in the future.

Yea, that's super weird. The only thing I can think of is that the dealer somehow missed RDRing your truck, which happens as soon as it comes into their possession, so I'm as confused as you are.

Can confirm, my FOB remote start seemingly stopped working shortly after the trial period ended. Happened to try it again recently and it does work from the FOB again. I somewhat wonder if that is intentional to pressure paying the subscription.

So who do you think should pay for the cell service for the life of vehicle? Toyota? I have N2 remote start and have to pay yearly to start it from my phone.

Compustar definitely works with 6 speed MT. Just finished installing mine and i love it. much more features than the N2 but that’s just my opinion N2 seems like a great option as well.

nothing wrong with paying for a subscription doesn’t keep you from using it if you don’t pay for it, but it’s the convenience of being able to start from anywhere that you’re paying for same as i am which imo is definitely worth it

Which compustar model did you get? You installed it yourself? Was it plug and play or did you have to splice wires?

@N2DesignsInc is the way to go. No subscription BS to use your FOB and the cellular works great for a low and reasonable fee. 3 year bundle is the best value. It’s plug and play and also has gps location as a bonus. I use to install viper systems with the dball2 and the N2 is such a better option.

compustar definitely not plug and play, i had a guy make a harness for me to make it plug and play though similar to the N2 kit, the reason i like the compustar is because i got the full security with it (~3 mile range fob, tilt sensor, motion sensor, glass break, siren) if that’s not something you’re worried about i would def go with the N2.
main reason i stuck with the compustar was because i transferred it from my previous vehicle, but i definitely like it especially being able to set the aux functions for some of my lights.

the N2 is plug and play, and probably cheaper as well.

May I ask why? Always curios to hear why folks are dissuaded because of this Toyota engineered design (which no one has control over).

It’ll sound crazy, but for every time I drive the truck I’ll have to start it twice. The starter will have to be replaced in half the time. This is the first push to start vehicle I’ve owned. How in this day in age can the truck not detect the key fob so it doesn’t have to turn off!?

Weird right. My Jeep has pushbutton start and it does not shut down when the door is opened. Of course I can take the doors off the Jeep if I want to.
