    FWIW I tried the remote start last weekend while out of cellphone range and confirmed that it is indeed an RF signal rather than a cell/data signal. That would mean that the module would have to actively be disengaged after your trial runs out, which I doubt will happen. Further, in my spec sheet it notes that there is a remote starter included with no asterisk stating that any other features, plans or subscription was required. What I’m alluding to is that if your remote start stopped working you should go to the dealer and have them program it (or whatever) to work, as it is listed as a feature. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Yep, no remote start on models with "real" key start (no push start), even the higher trim levels OR/Sport/Pro with the 6MT.

    I guess we will have to wait a year or till someone here has had its new 2020/2021 to tell us if their remote start stopped working because of the free trials.

    I've got a 2020 Pro and my free trial ended two months ago. Remote start still works fine

    I didn't sign up for anything either but I did use remote start through the Toyota app last winter. I also opted out of the driving data collection.

    I've got a 2020 OR, my tree trial ended months ago and I just finally got the remote start to work. I read about it many times here, but apparently my timing was off on the clicks and I could never get it to start. There was another thread posted here recently with a video of the correct cadence, works like a champ now!

    Why does Toyota make it so dam hard to understand their way of doing things, that is not so damn complicated. I think the more they complicate it the more money they make.What do you think lol.

    Sorry I didn’t read every page so maybe I’m repeating something someone already said.
    my 21 TRD sport came with the fob remote and a one year subscription to the app.
    They don’t work together, the fob is a short range remote start, instructions came with my manual. The app can be used from anywhere you want, there’s no range, if you’re on vacation and have the app, you can start your truck.
    A lot of the salespeople don’t really understand how this works yet.
    I was assured that once the app subscription expired, my fob would still work

    Thats sick dude! How much would a setup and install like this cost? I know nothing of remote start and wouldnt want to touch it, rather let an expert do all that.

    2021 TRD OR. Free trial for the Toyota services app ended Aug 26. I remote started the truck leaving work today using the key fob. App on the phone is all grayed out.

    I read somewhere that if I take my FOB to the dealer they can program it to do the same thing open and close windows like you mention. Now to find out if that is true or bullshit I will have to talk to the service manager on my first maintenance in Dec.

    I don't think anyone "subscribes" to the trial, it's just included with the new truck purchase and expires one year after your purchase date. Mine has expired and the light is still green
