Yeah, I don't see any new supersession numbers, so it may be the same exact part. Not good if so... would imply that all 3.5L engines are prone to develop this problem. Hopefully it's just a manufacturing defect or install error on some of them, and not a design flaw.

I was a manufacturing defected when the pipe was formed. They have supposedly corrected the problem at the manufacturing level so you wont see a different part number. The torque of the bolts has nothing to do with the failure. When the pipe is changed at the dealership the bolts aren't torqued, there is no room in there to get a torque wrench.

That's good to know. Where did you hear about them correcting it at the manufacturing level? Just curious

I work at the dealership and something the warranty guy said but it still could be BS. That's why I used the word supposedly.

I vaguely remember hearing the same thing. Manufacturing defect. Anecdotal at best for me though.

My daughters boyfriend has a 18-19 F150.. She brought it by the house last summer for me to change the oil. He works the night shift and was asleep, so she wanted it done before they took off on a road trip.

I had the WTF look when I seen it. Hell, the drain plug is composite as well, And toolless at that. I just needed an oil filter wrench for a complete oil change. By the way... that 5.0 holds 8.8 quarts. Was glad I used the big pan to catch it all.

The only number I see on the part that was removed from my truck is
PA9T-GF35 and has NTCL as if that may be the maker.

That's a fact. I had a 2003 Jetta with a V-6. PITA. Had to go "service mode" and swing out the front end (bumper, radiator support, etc)

In looking at the design of that pipe, that was not a smart idea. The plastic pipe spans between heads on each side. Take into consideration heating and cooling affecting the dimensions between those two ports as well as slight tolerance differences when installing, of course the plastic is going to crack.

Someone needs to make an aftermarket one that allows some sort of tolerance changes, out of Al. This is a weak link.

Add me to the list. Took a camera out and took a peek to see if I had this leak. Got 8,000 miles left on the warranty!5820DFAB-1D6F-464D-B67A-C3D492EAC40D.jpg 9D2AD4F2-BDED-4F92-9E4D-7C891D4BBEB5.jpg
