I just checked mine last night and they've both got a tiny amount of play similar to the side that he says is "good" in that video. Been a little worried about mine because you can see some grease moisture around the bottom of them on both sides but I guess that's somewhat normal with age. Not a messy amount of grease but you can see that the metal is darker from it.

according to the FSM, the most play they should have is 0.5mm, which to me means, if you can see any kind of movement, they fail spec. Whether or not you agree with that is up to you.. but it's what the FSM says

They've got about 55k on them at this point (OEM), but some of those miles have been pretty rough ones. Gonna have to make it a priority to change them out this year I think.

Just ordered them from Toyotapartsdeal.com, got a good deal out the door on both OEM sides and new bolts. $265 shipped

yep, they inspect everything, brakes, front end (I also had to replace OTRE but I knew that already, original ones with torn boots), exhaust (even without emissions) in case exposed under cab

meh, potholes can be rough sometimes but not any different than the first 12 or so years, these were from when I put on the OME lift 3.5 years ago so maybe too much stress for them now but they aren't extreme.

I got them from a toyota dealer online, name eludes me right now. I actually had to go back in my email history to find the transaction because PayPal doesn't go back more than 18-24 months but did find that they only have a 12mo/12k mile warranty on them...

I meant I put on OEM LBJs when I did the full OME lift kit in 9/2015, coincidentally Moog UBJ :notsure:

I also put in all poly ES bushings while I had everything ripped apart

Mine do look a little "leaky" exactly like you mention. I was worried about this a few weeks back, I went off that exact video and saw no play in mine. They have about 26k miles on them

i am looking to order parts. I am thinking Uppers and Lowers and i might as well get innner and outer tierod ends replaced while i am in there. So far i am looking at camelback toyota. Looks to be about $500 for everything. They have w/prerunner or 4wd as an option. Doess w/prerunner just mean extended cab? They do have different part numbers which is confusing.
I might try to shop around a bit but this place has free shipping as well so that might cancel out any deal i might get elsewhere.

Plug your VIN into this website and it'll tell you exactly which part numbers you need for your truck

    https://partsouq.com/en/catalog/genuine

I didn't trust pulling part numbers off this forum because there are so many different part numbers that people post in different threads, and it's easy to accidentally order the wrong ones.

Also check out www.toyotapartsdeal.com, I ordered my OEM LBJs (both sides) and bolts from them yesterday for about $260 shipped.

Camelback is supposed to be cheap too though, I didn't check with them so I don't know how they compare.

Replaced both LBJ's this weekend. Had one big hiccup on Saturday while doing the passenger side...as I was finishing up and torquing the 4 LBJ bolts, the last one snapped on me as I was torquing it to 59 ft/lbs.

These were all brand new OEM bolts. Sucked big time because the half of the bolt that broke off was stuck inside the spindle, so I had to remove the brand new LBJ I just put on and I ripped the boot in the process :frusty: side note: do not use a pickle fork to separate the ball joint if you plan on reusing it. A Pitman Arm Puller is much easier to use and won't damage anything.

So I rushed to the local dealer that had one LBJ in stock, bought another (ouch $$$) and installed it, luckily no broken bolts this time.

Did the drivers side this morning in under an hour because it went much more smoothly.

Broken bolt in spindle...luckily I was eventually able to turn it out with needle nose pliers

Good thing you got it taken care of!

I hate taking certain things apart; when I did my LBJ's I opted to replace my LCA bushings and bolts all in one go.

Yeah as I was doing the driver's side one this morning and finishing it up, I noticed I have a bushing going bad on my lower control arm lol. I swear if it isn't one thing it's another.

I can see it's a little torn/squished and when I turned the rotor side to side a little there was a loud creaking noise coming right from that LCA bushing

Dunno if I'm up for tackling LCA bushings, don't have a big press or access to one. The write-ups I've seen make it look like something I might just bite the bullet and take it to a shop for
