Hi guys, I looked through the forum a bit and found a lot of discussion regarding the fuel pump squeaking noise but the one coming from my truck doesn’t seem to have the same symptoms, it happens on throttle input only and I can’t hear it at idle. I’m wondering if it’s a loose pulley? Only happens after car is warmed up but it’s consistent. As soon as I’m in a bit of stop and go traffic it starts up and doesn’t go away until truck cools down again.

It seemed to have started after I got into a little fender bender and truck went into the shop. There was zero mechanical damage, just front bumper and passenger side fender.

I shot a short video where you can hear it pretty clearly. Any advice/help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a bad idle bear or pulley.
    Still have warranty?
Can you video under hood while someone else revs?

That's not your HPFP. Sounds like pulley or serpentine belt.

Truck has just under 20k miles so yep, definitely still under warranty. Going to take it in for sure I just like to be knowledgeable and possibly fix it or diagnose it myself if it's easy enough before going in. The video you posted was awesome, sub'd to that guy so thanks for that! lol

yep, I read through the hpfp thread a bit and it convinced me that this isn't the same thing. I'm going to check pulleys and see if I see anything obvious. Thanks!

Took mine to the dealership recently for the same issue(under warranty). 5 hours later they said “could not replicate sound” and nothing was done. Let us know what they say!

Thanks for letting me know. How many miles did you have on your truck? Same symptoms of it only happening when the engine warms up?

Will do for sure. Was yours making the noise when you took it in? It's definitely not constant for me, only happens when truck really warms up, heavy city driving or traffic. When it's moving along and air outside is cool it's not audible. The good thing is that when it starts it usually doesn't go away until truck has cooled significantly, like next day. If I do take it in I'll make sure to induce the sound before going in if I can learn to replicate it on command. Will update here.

    14,000 on mine.

Mine initially was only noticeable when warm for a few months then it got insanely loud after off-roading through a bunch of mud. I felt bad for my entire neighborhood it was so loud.

New belt has it silent again. Good luck with yours.

Long overdue update, just realized I never came back to this thread. It was just the serpentine belt.

@slick7108514 I had also gone mudding and to be certain it was this a little water spray on the belt immediately cut the sound for a second. Thanks for your help.

@KingZee Glad you go it sorted out. I haven't had any issues in the last ~8,000 miles since my belt was replaced.

I think it's the belt. My 2016 has done it twice after some offroading, and then also running through a big puddle. It did it for about 2 days then went away both times. I think it was the belt getting dirty, I have 69k on my truck with the stock belt and it's quiet after both times it temporarily did it.

It was the belt. I was hoping it would go away but just kept getting worse. I think the mud really got into it. It was an easy fix though.

Good to know. Literally, the day after I wrote this post, I had to open my hood and then upon shutting it I got the squeak back too. After a few days of driving it has gone again. I think I knocked more dust onto my belt. Did you do an oem replacement?

Nah just bought one from a local auto shop and replaced myself. If you want to be 100% sure it’s the belt spray some water on it while it’s running and the noise should go away immediately
