I want to try to stay spring over so I am going to see how my J59's will be with the shackles and bypasses. If we cant get the height and ride quality where we want it I am going to give in and go spring under. If spring under havent decided which springs yet.

Today I decided to work on my front bump height. I was allowing alittle to much uptravel as you can see from the holes in the inner fenderwells. Trying to remove the bumps and I found that the nuts inside the arm had broken loose. so I made gusset pads for the bumps that will also raise to appropriate height.

I also tried to put my 10" travel 2.0 from the rear in the secondary hoop and the compressed length is to long by about .25" to .5".

I actually already had a set. They were an improvement until I cracked one in half. I beat them pretty hard, but the real problem was that they make contact at a weird angle and dont push directly down. needless to say you pinch down on the corner of it. I shaved alittle off the top to help this but they still didn't survive, this could be why they split but it should have caused them to delaminate nit crack down the center. If I mounted them on the frame and not the arm they probably would have had a longer more effective life.

I only drove the truck twice with them on it. Did well on the first trip which was trails, no high speed. They seemed to make a difference at the dunes but didn't survive. I didn't notice it was cracked until the end of the day when I stuffed a tire blitzing a whoop section and almost went end over end.

Are they worh it, depending on your budget. I personally was looking for a little more performance and wish I would have put that money towards the secondary shock hoop. But for $50 they are probably worth it, I would just add more strike area for them.

Live and learn but as people probably notice I like to try unconventional things to see if they will work.

sweet truck dude. i would go for the spring under, the clearance loss is well worth the travel gains!

edit! this is my 10,000th post! haha

    Congrats on the 10,000th post.

I just really want to keep my rear ride height high. I figure I could with the 50 T pack, but when I tried to pick them up a few months back they didn't have any left. I shouldn't have posted that they werent going to sell them anymore before I got mine ordered, live and learn.

And yes I probably will end up spring under. I just want to see what the most I can get out of spring over will be.

Its about that time that I will have to make the decision on the exactly what setup in the rear. I keep going back and forth on spring under or over, might just let the guys doing the work make the decision. Kinda thinking of setting it all up spring over with my Deavers, then if im not happy all I have to do is add spring perchs and I can just go the allpro 5" standard spring under.

Anyhow going from the 2.0 to the 2.5 bypasses should be a big difference in its self. Just the amount more fluid the shocks will hold is huge.

Found this pic on TC's facebook page. Anyhow for the time being Downsouth is going to convert my 2.0 to 8.5" travel so I can use them as a secondary. At least I will have compression adjustment and the front can be done for the time being and I can concentrate on the rear.

Figure I had no use for the old shocks and this option is still cheaper than each new would cost. Since I am still planning on switching them out at some point it made sense.

    Cost from Downsouth below:

    New shock bodies: $35/Each
    New shafts: $25/Each
New Oil: $10 (we can reuse yours if it's not nasty)
Labor to swap all internals & top caps: $45 Each

    Total: $220.00

    Ok so alittle update:
Ive been working on the truck as I got time and havent gotten very far. So after a few nights of waiting for the garage to warm up and getting alittle work done Lenger got back to me and can work it in. So I loaded it up and dropped it off for the next phase of the build. Gave him ideas of what Im thinking and he is going to get everything started.

say good bye for a few weeks.
