I have done this with friends the last couple of years and decided to make it a meet this year!

    THE PLAN:
Head up to Hull Mountain near lake Pillsbury and cut down our own all natural, organic Christmas trees from the forest! Hang out on the mountain, possibly shoot skeet and definitely talk trucks. There is a very good chance this will be a snow trip so bring our snow playing gear!

    WHERE:
Meet at the lake Pillsbury airport along the side of forest road M6 HERE then we will head up to Hull Mountain as a convoy.

    **EDIT**

    Date changed to next Sunday.

WHEN: Sunday 12/3/17 Meet at the airport at around 10:30am. We will be rolling out up the Mountain at 11:00 sharp.

    WHAT YOU NEED:
    1)
National forest Christmas tree permit: YOU MUST GET YOUR OWN they can be found HERE Information about the program can be found HERE We want to follow the rules and be legit if we meet a range and because its the right thing to do if you want continue to use our public lands, please obtain a permit for each tree you plan to take home.

    2) 4WD vehicle (Hopefully a Tacoma-stock should do fine)

    2) Hand saw to cut your tree

    3) Lunch and beverages of choice!

    4) Shotgun if you are interested in shooting , there is a good place about halfway up the mountain with great views we can stop and have some food as well.

    5) Why am I telling you guys what to bring, be prepared for a good time.

Yea. They have the cool stuff. All we have are crowds, Home Depot is setting up Christmas displays already, and white plastic pre-lit trees..

    It's the same thing here.

I was thinking about trying to make one of these this year but I'll be heading back from Baja that day. Every year there's something else going on.

Be sure you have a map of where you plan to cut, will show areas you can cut a tree on. Dont know if you can cut on other forests other than where you bought the permit. I don't have family close by, so never cut a tree.

When I've gotten a permit in plumes national Forrest they give you a map with the permit. Assuming it's the same everywhere

Plumas National Forest. May be hard for some to get a permit, guessing have to be at a office, not call in for a permit. I know around here, some offices will be open a few Saturdays after Turkey Day. Some gas stations may offer them in their locale. Check snow conditions, at least up here.

Interested... Have spent my whole life at Pillsbury at our "campground" at Westshore. Just got my Taco a couple months ago and has yet to touch dirt. May be going up in the next couple weeks to finish closing up our place for the winter. Will know more as it gets closer.

How long does it take to get the permit mailed back? Getting kind of close!

Yep, probably a 7 to 8 hour day for us Bay Area guys. Eh. In the mountains. Better than being in the shitty.

yeah the last time when @ffdawson set it up, that was a rough drive home back to fremont. Was falling asleep following @BayAreaRunner back and then got stuck on 880 with all but one lane closed due to an accident on 880 in oakland at midnight.

I don't usually get a tree until the end of the first week in December. Is a tree gonna last from the Thanksgiving week end until Jan 2nd? That's a pretty long stretch.
