my truck is a 2nd Gen and I believe the 3rd Gen sits an inch higher in the front, but I don’t know if that is accomplished by a different placement of the coil over perch or a longer coil...I know I can’t give you a likely answer... I suggest leaving the cab mount area intact, install your lift with your selected tires, align then see if you rub, then only cut if needed and only the amount you need.

I trimmed mine with a sawzall and it took less time that consuming 1 beer per side.

Ok, need some insight or experience.

Truck has been doing great since getting it back on the road and aligned to my specs. I’ve got a little bit of rubbing in the front, but with the +3.5° caster and the more aggressive offset on the new wheels, I’m not surprised. Nothing a little trimming with a knife and dremel can’t fix once it warms up.

I’m also really liking the feel of driving without the sway bar. @EdinCincinnati nailed it, took about two weeks of driving it this way before I got comfortable enough to truly enjoy the difference and not feel like the truck was going to roll over around every curve. The 650# coils definitely help but there was still a learning curve/adjustment.

However, now that I’ve driven the truck on the new suspension for a few weeks I’ve noticed a new noise that wasn’t there before. It’s not consistent and I only hear it over harsher bumps, usually at higher speed. I don’t hear it going slowly over speed bumps or pulling in and out of driveways, I can’t recreate it by jumping up and down on the rear suspension or even pushing the truck side to side. It’s hard to describe but it’s more of a “thud” or “thunk” from the rear or even under the back part of the cab. I’ve checked the torque and tightened the U bolts twice, both lower shock bolts and even the upper shock bolts and nothing seems to change the noise.

At this point I’m wondering if one of my bed bolts is loose or if one of the rear cab mounts is shot. It definitely sounds like something is hitting something but it doesn’t sound like it’s suspension related. Has anyone had any experience with a bed bolt coming loose or a blown cab mount? Any other ideas about what might be loose? If I had to narrow down the noise it appears to be coming from the rear passenger side.

Try retorquing everything, bed bolts, cab bolts, cross member bolts. Check that spare is snug and rear differential housing isn’t hitting spare when flexing.

that’s all I can think of.

Spare and all related hardware has been removed. And yeah, I’ll have to check the bed bolts, cab mount bolts and cross member bolts when it’s warm enough. Hoping it’s something as simple as that.

Anyone know if this could be fixed? Any recommendations on a body shop in the area?

You might be able to pop it out from the inside by taking off the tailgate skin. Though, if the metal is creased, it may not go so well. Also, it looks like the paint is cracked; which will let that spot rust if you don't take care of it.

Did something drop on it? Or was someone trying to get your tonneau cover open?

Backing up and smacked my tailgate, which was down, into a small post at <5mph. I'm a dummy, I know.

I was thinking the same thing, popping it out from the outside. I was going to get some touch up paint to take care of the crack.

Was hoping I could find a dent repair shop around here that could fix it for a reasonable price.

He pulled a large dent (from a mailbox) out of the rear quarter panel of one of my old cars. The paint was creased but when he was done you couldn’t tell it had ever been dented.

There's a pretty common problem with the 2nd gen that the bed wears down over time through vibration, which makes it thinner. The bed bolts bottom out, so tightening them more does nothing. You can usually check if it's your issue by laying on the driveway and bench pressing your bed up at each corner to see if there's movement. I fixed mine by putting a few small pieces of UHMW in between the frame and the bed. Fixed my problem. Here's a thread on it:
