Yes I do have a trd pro skid and sway relocation kit... BUT... this happened on my stock truck with no aftermarket parts too (cheap black skid plate).

I popped my skid and the skid support bars off, placed washers in between the frame and skid supports, then re torqued all bolts. No more touchy, no more sound.

It's the oem on the sport. So it may be different for anyone else with OR or aftermarket. But worth a look.

I have the same noise on the driver's side front, just started at 5k miles. Hours under the truck, all of the suspension components that move are tight. I'm taking the truck to the dealer in a few days, however, I'm not expecting a fix, rather I'm expecting the old, "Can't duplicate" response. I'm going to take the advice of others and replace the front body mount bolts at my cost. Standby for both the dealer's response and the results of the body mount replacement.

    UPDATE:
The dealer replaced the front two body mount bolts and bushings. The metal on metal creaking noise is gone.

I went under my truck today and did find my driver side axle is making the same noise, was able to shake with my hand. I do believe this is the problem, will have dealer inspect soon. Passenger side did not make the rattle. Thank you for your post.
My passenger was making a squeak, so they replaced the shock and tower parts under warranty. One shock only and strut parts.

My '16 DCSB 4x4 was making this noise starting at about 2000 miles. Dealer said it was a loose body mount bolt and tightened it which fixed the issue for about 800 miles but then it started again. Second time around they replaced the mount and it hasn't made the noise since, now have 42000 miles on it. Hopefully this will help

It's a shitty design they've had since the 80s but they refuse to redesign it properly. Buy the upgrade from ECGS.

    UPDATE

Front two body mounts replaced. NO MORE NOISE.

Tech told me they were mangled. And suspects they were misaligned from factory.

Its funny how this issue has spanned two generations of Tacoma's, glad they fixed it for you. I know when I replaced mine and the creaking stopped it was a good feeling

Interesting that it can come from the factory that way.

    UPDATE:

After 2 days with 2 different techs, the front body mount bolts and bushings were replaced. The creaking metal-on-metal noise while traveling over speed humps is gone.

Glad it is solved for you. I still think mine's different. More of a rattle, I think from those front axles.

Does running into things count as a mod?
I’ve noticed a distinct “thunk” coming from the passenger side front, mostly off road and in 4 high. I told the dealership, but they weren’t able to find anything wrong and weren’t able to replicate the noise. I have stock suspension/stock tires and a Demello Baja front bumper.

Checked the passenger side front end out and didn’t feel anything that was loose, except for some play in the axle, .5mm or less. Boots were in good shape. Suggestions?
