Past two days my noise has been much quieter, both in 2wd and 4wd. The outside temps between -8 and 20 degrees F, so that might be some part of it.

Has anyone figured this out yet? I've replaced my radiator mounts with the energy suspension ones, and the noise is still there.....

Same here. Truck has made the sounds since weeks after purchasing.. Been back and forth to the dealer at least 15 times for this. Half of the time they "can't re create"

Last week I hit the end of the line with my patience. Got the same "can't re create" . So I went to the dealer and made the service manager and technician drive with me. Chassis ears and everything.. Made it clickity clack at least 30 times.

Telling me they couldnt hear it still.. I forced the tech to turn off the chassis ears and stop talking, they finally acknowledged it. Its getting louder and louder and happening more often.

Their idea of a fix now is to do the leaf spring TSB... REALLY? Its coming from the front end are they that retarded?

Got fed up and called Corporate. I've been driving this truck for 21 months now with this god damn noise sounding like I have a 30 year old truck. What is it? and what other damage is it causing?? It literally sounds like something is about to break every time the front end dips and rebounds..

i have icons w/ their tubular uca's. no sway bar. I also changed out all my body mounts to poly (not just radiator mounts) and still have a random "clack" coming from my passenger side front. seems to be low speed when the suspension cycles with small bumps. I don't get the noise while going over speed bumps but get it right after when the truck still rocking after the speed bump. and small bumps in the road. going uphill and downhill. have not checked the brakes yet. did check to see all bolts I could think of were tight. did not try dropping the skids. tried looking at the exhaust, I have the urd crossover pipe and it doesn't look like it. raised the truck to check the ball joints and they seem good too. checked the intake to make sure there wasn't something loose in there. was suspecting the front axle from before I found this thread but cant think of a way to test it.

I’ve got toyota Canada involved on this. Waiting for a return call to find out what their plan of attack on it this.

I’ve been to the dealer to many times about this. And for a truck that is completely stock to make this much noise from New is unacceptable if you ask me.

I will report back when it gets sorted out.

Love my taco. 24000 miles. Long story short, I have a clank/pop sound typically when making a left into a driveway or dip. Sometimes over speed bumps. But not everytime, maybe 1 in 5. Went to dealer twice this week. First time they were not able to replicate of course. Second time they did. AND, they were able to replicate on a 2018 off the lot! They said it's something about the front brakes. Toyota knows and has a case on it. Am I the only one who has been told this?

I love my truck too! I’m just bummed that it sounds 30 years old when it’s new haha.

I haven’t heard anything from the dealer about brakes. I have heard it mentioned a couple times on here.

I find it hard to believe that it’s caused by the brakes. I get the pop/clank over literally every speed bump etc.. it’s quite irritating.

Last week I took a 2018 out for a solid 45 mins over countless speed bumps and didn’t hear a peep.

Did you happen to hear this noise off the said 2018? Or just going off the dealerships word? Only reason I ask is because I’ve found that a lot of these dealers are full of shit and will just say things to make you go away.

They could be full of shit, yes. It was late in the day and I didn't have the time to hear for myself but they did offer. Very irritating indeed but what can they do really? Can't fix what's not exactly broken...

Well, imo something sounds broken or is breaking in my truck.

And I’d like to figure out what it is and if it’s causing stress on other things before my warantee is up. Last thing I want is for shit to hit the fan after my warantee expires...

I just had a similar situation with my 2016 TRD OR 4x4 with 27k miles. Started about 5 days ago and progressively got louder and more pronounced. Turned out it was the front body mounts. The dealer re-torqued them and told me to drive it for a few days.

Jamester, are you getting a pop/click sound when going over bumps or the squeaky sound?
I previously stated that the dealer told me it's brake slap. I'm starting to think it's bullshit...going back in a few weeks.

I had this same exact problem with a clanking sound coming from the driver side for 7 months now. I can always hear it going over speed bumps or dips. I just recently changed my stock OR suspension to the 2nd gen trd pro shocks and all of a sudden the sound is gone. Went through the same streets where I can always replicate the sound and no matter for fast I go I don't hear it anymore. It's only been two weeks since I changed my shocks so i'm hoping this solved the problem.

mine is more of a tap. I'm thinking one of my shocks might be bad. camped overnight near the beach this weekend so i washed the truck pretty good. rinsed the undercarriage and everything and the sound was gone Monday. but came back today. losing my mind a little.

I believe it these installed wrong.... another member tracked it down this week. I will post his explanation in here.
    https://www.partsgeek.com/t6thn8n-toyota-tacoma-brake-hardware-kit.html
    @Joisey
I found the gremlin. The tension spring on the bottom pin on the drivers side brake caliper was put with the 'ears' outside of the brake pads and not inside where it belongs. No more rattle.
The W shaped clips are the ones I am talking about. The lower one pictured...the lower ends go inboard of your two brake pads and the pins pass thru the bent wire. The two top ends that are bent outward in an L shape go into a hole in each brake pad backing plate. The center bend just hangs off into space. Basically you squeeze the two bottom legs together and slide them between your brake pad backing plates and inser the pin. Then you clip the two L shaped upper ends in the holes in the brake pad backing plates. It supplies slight outward and some downward pressure on the pin and pad, preventing the rattle.

A better pic of the anti-rattle spring. Thebottom spring is pictured as it would beinstalled.

I'm going to be watching the shit out of this thread. I still have the sound....
