Thought I'd share my experience with detailing my truck today. My truck sees the dirt more than the pavement so it's constantly dirty, muddy grimy etc. It's been rainy and snow up here the last few days and I noticed the water was hardly beading up at all. Figured it was time to dedicate a full day for a solid detail job.

I bough the Meguires clay bar kit that included the quick detail spray and a couple clay bars. Gave her a much needed scrub down wash before starting on the clay. Finished up after the clay with the Meguires ULW. I've read nothing but good reviews on the ULW so I gave it a try.

Results speak for themselves. I am thoroughly impressed! These pics were taken in the shade too. The green should really pop in the sun tomorrow.

    Looks nice.

Next time try and Nanoskin auto scrub instead of clay. You'll never look back.

Do it. The while process was a lot of work for me but I like to take my time and do it right. Plus my truck was filthy so I washed it in sections before I even started.

You won't be disappointed with the results.

I clayed and applied ULW to my 2014 for the first time this summer. Blew me away!!! Now I'm addicted. I find myself wanting to reapply the ULW every two weeks. Ha now I've figured out that it looks so good it's prob not gonna look any better after two weeks. So I wait a little longer

To tie me over... After washes I just wipe on wipe off turtle wax ice spray wax. It really does make the ULW last longer. Ultimate spray wax is also a good one. And if you want to just do a quick wipe down now and them- griots garage speed shine is awesome stuff. It sort of refreshes the ULW and makes it look like the day you applied it. Really nice shine with all 3 products. Great maintenance products.

Seriously, pick up any of those products I mentioned. They're cheap. Use them after you wash the truck next time. It'll look just like you applied the ULW again.

About how long did it take you to clay? Never done it before, but think my red taco could benefit :)

I'll chime in... It really depends- if it's not real dirty, you might clay in 20-30 minutes. Or if you're a little more thorough, maybe it'll take you an hour. Horizontal surfaces (roof/hood) will probably require a little more attention than vertical surfaces. Really, time is dependent on filth level.

Pretty much what he said^^^. I did a few sections at a time and went back and forth from clay to wax. Had I done the whole truck first before wax I would guess it took me about an hour.

What wax did you use? Sounds like I will have time to do both. Think I am going to try the Meguires claybar kit. First time trying it.

That's the kit I used. Very easy and simple. I followed it up with Meguires Ultimate Liquid Wax. It's actually a polymer based sealer but it's marketed as a wax. My assumption there is the average joe citizen feels more comfortable with a wax than a sealer? Who knows. Anyway, it applies just like a wax. Apply with the supplied foam pad, let sit and then wipe off with the supplied towel. 24 hour cure time so it will actually look better 24 hours after application.

x3 on Meguires clay and Ultimate Liquid Wax. Great stuff, easy on easy off. As already mentioned, ULW is a sealer but it's called a wax for marketing purposes. 9/10 people buying off the shelf don't know what a sealer is, so Meguires calls it a wax, knowing full well that 9/10 people will be happier with their sealer than a true "wax" anyway. So, ULW is a "synthetic wax". Easier application/removal and better longevity. You won't be disappointed, especially if you clay first. My initial response was WOW! paint looked better than it did when I got the truck new. Seriously.

Most over the counter "waxes" nowadays have a polymer (sealant) component to them, and they've had it for several years now. Some of them will note that they also contain carnauba. I think this is probably because this is what we've waxed with for 75 years and it helps sell products. Customers are familiar with it. But true carnuba "waxes" have less longevity compared to today's polymer sealants. Guys "in the know" that still use carnuba based waxes likely do so because they like the darker, wetter look that carnuba provides. They sacrifice some longevity for a "look" that they like. For a daily driver and someone that doesn't want to apply a protectant every few weeks, sealants are where it's it.
