I’ve read and heard that the plastic on the dash cluster scratches even if looked at wrong. I can some swirls from where I’ve moved dust with my fingers and I’m looking for the best way to clean that won’t damage the plastic.

Any advice on this yet? Sorry if it’s been discussed. Not sure how to word it in my search.

Microfiber duster? Someone on here sells a screen cover cut to fit the cluster. I have one, but haven’t had time to install.

I've used plexus on motorcycle windscreens and helmet visors with great success. I would have no worries about trying this on the delicate plastic covering gauges.

My wife has a feather type duster she uses on our ceiling fans. I bought a miniature one and use it on the gauges of the Tacoma, my Spyder, and the Yamaha sport bike since they all have the crappy plastic covers. Seems to work pretty well.

There is at least one thread I saw and they recommended a swifter to pull the dust off before cleaning .

Use a Swiffer mini duster, it won't scratch up the plastic

I use a makeup powder brush for the dash cluster. Also for any little hard to get to areas. Works great.

Plexus is great, I used to use it on my airplane windshield, but you can also use lemon Pledge with a microfiber cloth. I have used Pledge, most recently, since I have it lying are the house.

Honestly the microfiber cloth was what scratched mine. Dust first, then use the microfiber.

Take a dry high pile microfiber towel like the Rag Company Eagle Edgeless and "dab" the plastic panel several times without wiping. Do NOT wipe. The dabbing picks up most of the loose dust and debris.

Then take a second towel that is damp with Plexus cleaner (or similar) and very lightly wipe the panel. Flip the towel for a final wipe.

Key is very little pressure and high quality towels.

Addendum: do as above and you'll probably still end up with swirls. It scratches soooo easily.

Clean microfiber towels with a light cleaner like the white vinegar based Windex, or even just water should take care of dust no problem. Works great on my 2nd gen (dont know if the 3rd gen dash is different plastic)

Honestly those things are great. Use them for the whole interior. When they get near the end of their life I clean the engine bay with them before I toss them. No heavy chemicals, no water everywhere

I used compressed air and a microfiber cloth with lemon Pledge on my 2016 and it swirled like crazy. I just blow my 2019 every once in a while now.

Yeah microfiber will shred the plastic with any pressure at all. Ha pretty much anything you use will shred it with too much pressure. Zero to extremely light pressure is key.

I'm thinking about using the adhesive strips from a adhesive tape lint roller to try and press / pull the goop off.

I'll bet your truck likes that.... :rimshot:

Dollar store - Single Swiffer Duster

works like a charm. keep in the glovebox for occasional dash/console wipe-downs. Replace regularly when looking not-so fresh.

Is there anything that can be done if the cluster screen is scratched? Can it be polished out?
