Do you guys ever clean the underside of your truck? It is necessary?

If so, how do go about doing it? How often? after what activities?

What important parts of the undercarriage do you clean?

What about for someone who doesn't have a powerwasher, and maybe just has a hose... how would you advise me to clean my truck?

Thanks crew! always appreciate your insights.

Usually have the under washed after going out to the desert. Local place does it for $2 more

If your truck is under coated I would not wash it under truck. All you would be doing is washing the under coating you paid for off exposing the frame allowing it to rust faster. If you live where rust is not a concern or you do not under coat than wash away. My frame is rust free 2001 Tacoma from salt belt, under coated inside and out yearly and never been washed under truck. Under coating thick by now but the salt never really touches frame much.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Almost every weekend, due to my job. I spend a lot of time on gravel and muddy roads, so most weekends I take it to the pressure wash. I have also used my wife's garden hose attachment for hanging baskets. It is long and the head can pivot. I try to get around the frame and under the body and bed where mud gets into (be careful around the wires for the tail lights). Also the suspension, front and back. Cranking the wheels full lock both ways helps with the front. The inside of the wheels can collect mud and become out of balance so that gets it to. Last the front and rear bumpers. The more you do it, the more you will figure out the best way for you. One last thing, if you go to a pressure wash, make sure they allow muddy trucks. It's a long story, but I have been kick out of a pressure wash and threatened to have the police called because my truck was too dirty.

Found this a few weeks ago. It might help.

Yes, I hate cleaning it... :)

I keep that crud out of there with a dose of my pressure washer, and spray 303 on everything black afterwards to keep stuff from sticking around on later run-ins with the evil brown stuff. So far, it makes it easy to clean with the layer of 303 on it each time.

Only thing I don't clean are tires. Tires don't get 303 on them. Don't like the Mexican car wash shiny side out sidewalls and the spray pattern on the body. No patience for scrubbing either. If the pressure washer can't take it off, then the dirt deserves to stay...

Oscillating sprinkler after winter and before winter. Once it drys I spray with fluid film then I try not to wash the undercarriage all winter or summer. Works for me. No rust yet.

I've been using this after the beach for a lot of years on my past 3 trucks. It was looking pretty rough, so I gave it a nice coat of paint last year.

Made from some scrap PVC pipe I had laying around. Put a new shut off valve and QD hose connector on it to.
