Another note this doesn’t do it when suspension is cycled up and down, only off camber or side to side movement. I can grab roof between doors and replicate noise. This is what makes me think body mount more than suspension related.

maybe if you take some spray lube like spray silicone or something and spray each bushing and then do what you were doing in the video to make the noise, you can figure out which bushing it is by process of elimination?

I have a thread on this too or I believe the same issue. The dealership believes it is/was a body mount. The service tech came out to me and reviewed the video I created and said he was able to get about another 3/4 turn on the body mounts. He believed a new design was potentially going to be coming out which might be a replacement part. I'm sure if it does it'll just be a TSB. The video below is what I was experiencing I don't get it to much here in Nebraska unfortunately and was/is hard to duplicate without a big 'hump' to go over.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iINHGynVy04

I haven't been able to give a good test to see if the tightening of the body mount fixed it though.

Mine clicks, but only sometimes with the wheel turned and driving up a ramp fairly aggressively, does anyone think this could be the traction control kicking in to stop a spinning wheel?

Precisely the same for me. Noise happens consistently as I turn into my steep driveway. Radiator mount bushings have been replaced and re-torqued. I've also checked front cab mounts, skid plates, shocks, calipers, etc.

I recently noticed I can make the noise first thing in the morning as I first back out and hit the brakes hard while still in the garage. I checked the brakes/pads again today and it seems like the upper pins on the pads are pretty loose. They slide back and forth about 1/4". Could be my source. Will report back after some testing.

I think it might have to do the bushing and bearings inside the CV axle. I bring this up to Toyota every time, and I am always nice to them. These guys are worse than mafia's and know exactly how to dodge these kinds of questions and give blanket answers that doesn't acknowledge nor agree.. I'm about done with them. Just one more factory service with them, and I am done with them. After that I will take my truck to my own mechanic with issues. It's not like they don't know about it, it depends upon whether they want to fix it or not. I even had the service advisor in my truck when I demo-ed the grinding gear noise. He's like,.. "nah, that's nothing. It's not the bearings." In my mind, I wanted to punch through his face.

Not that I'm aware of yet either. I still need to get the truck in and complain again.. Waiting for some warmer weather around here for it though.

This is interesting as I get a pop/clunk up front when wheelin', and it only happens on mogul type environments and on the way down, much like the title to this thread, but description on top. On pavement though, I don't hear any steel on steel when going over speed bumps, lowered man hole covers, or turning into steep driveways.

Front shock mounts. Mine did it. Dealer said couldn't duplicate. I said f it and replaced them all with 5100's. Noise gone. Here's a video from someone else with the same. There are a few discussions about it in the forums.

    https://youtu.be/wBIB4Evx4uM

Here's a discussion on it. You can see a toyota dealer resolution at post #64 saying front strut problem. It solved mine as well although I did it on my own.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-this-sound-i-dont-think-it-is-normal.490175/

By the way, my dealer had no interest in the videos I showed them if we couldn't make mine do it. I would have had to drive them 10 miles to the speed humps and I was already aggravated with their typical responses.

Also, if you want to solve any vibration issues when slowing down add the helwig 550 helper springs for around $50. I did it because I haul a KTM on my hitch but it also solved the vibrations Toyota is fixing with leaf spring replacements.

    That's all I've got.

mhtacoma you're the man. I have the same problem. I was having a difficult time figuring out how to replicate this problem and it seems like I can only replicate it when I drive over the speed bumps leaving MacDill AFB. I'm about to invest in some front suspension now.

Huh, Hellwig told me the 550’s would not fit on the 3rd gen. I think someone on this forum tried them and had to send them back, too. Did you have to modify them to work?

oops....sorry I didn't see this. They bolted right up for me. They rest against one of the stock leaf bracket straps but quite frankly it still does what it is supposed to do. I may not be getting the full resistance of the spring but I am getting enough that it is really stiff and doesn't squat at all with a dirt bike hanging off the hitch. I cranked them way down and it makes a huge difference. Again....only 50 bucks.

I slide the shock boot down and it just works its way back up.

The instructions actually give torque values that include amount of height raised. I can't find it right now. Mine raised a bit but I think sitting against the leaf strap countered it a bit. I was sitting pretty level before I put them on.
