Can anyone identify what is causing this sound? My dealer insists this is normal.....I don't think so. Happens going about 10-15 mph over a speed hump, slower over speed bumps. But it is wierd, because it doesn't happen all the time. Service manager went on a ride with me and claims it is normal. He said it was the spare tire. Well, this video is without spare tire and I zip-tied everything that could possibly rattle a the back end make sure to turn up the volume. Any suggestions would be hugely helpful, It is driving me crazy!

Hard to tell in the videos, but maybe a body mount, most guys that have them go bad seem to be passenger side front.

Sounds like a rad bolt. I had mine replaced as the bushing was completely shot and the bolt rusted. Made the front passenger side sound like it was tearing itself apart. I'd have them check it and all surrounding mounts.

I had an odd sound / click such as you. Brought it to the dealer he checked everything but then found out it was not the control arms but in fact that the shock was not sitting in the mount correctly so they determine something went wrong with the production line pictures are taken and sent back to Toyota. I have a 2016 Tacoma with 14,000 miles on it now approximately 1 year 4 months old so perhaps they need to take a peek in that direction. Just another idea 4 Ya. They can contact Glenn Toyota in Fair Lawn New Jersey 201 791 3800 and speak to the head service honcho by the name of Jay

To clarify a little bit the rubber the cushions the shock where the mount is was in I will say crooked for lack of words and pinched. So that clunking I heard was he metal on metal. So bring it down have them check it out

It started with a creaking noise, but now sounds like metal on metal. Are the body mounts hard to inspect? The dealer said that he did a "visual" inspection after about 5 min. when I suggested the mounts. Where exactly are they? Are they hard to get to? - Thanks for all of the feedback and I will definitely go to another dealer. Going to Moab in about 3 weeks, don't know if I can get to a dealer before that. Maybe it will just have to get worse before it gets better. I just don't want anything else to break and I don't know why the dealer seems to not want to listen about potentially bad body mounts.

Sounds like the radiator bouncing.... move the camera inside facing rear towards the passenger side corner of the radiator and re-test. Sounds like the radiator is moving .. should be easy to figure out and wouldn't want that to self destruct in MOAB.... if it was a cab mount it would be more of a vibration and you would feel it at highway speeds I would think, and not a rat-at-at rattle.

    Ouch!
That hurt me and I'm not even driving it OP.
Def not normal to me, doesn't sound like the spare tire/chain.
For my money, I reiterate what others have suggested, find another stealer and bring them the vid.

    Good luck
    Cheers!

I know exactly what this sound is.

Test drove vehicle. "Unable to duplicate" customer's concerns. Vehicle operating normally.

In all seriousness, best of luck to you and great job recording the sound. At least you have proof that it's making a noise.

Well Guys, mine sounded fine at highway speed, you could only detect my clunky/squeek at low speed over bumps or maneuvering in a parking lot, backing out the driveway, speed bumps and other lower speed maneuvers.

Sorry I didn't tag you in this post reply. The rubber was not pressed incorrectly where the shock meets the mount for the frame and made the creaky clumpy sound. Dealership founded after checking control arms and looking around a little bit
