Closed (for now): Group Buy: IEDLS Polyurethane Carrier Bearing

Title isn't wrong, little misunderstanding on your part - Group buy is currently closed (hopefully will be reopened), thread is open. We are guessing IEDLS was overwhelmed with TW love.

 

First post indicates it is alive. If the OP is still involved, should indicate in first post that it is currently on hold. Thread can still be alive, but first post should indicate status if possible. If OP no longer involved then nothing can be done.

Point taken on my choice of words in my above post. I still think you understood the point.

 

Title supersedes anything in the body of the post.

I for one don't expect the OP @12TRDTacoma to be able to keep up with every change in the group buy from start to finish and update it whenever things change.

Look what @Davtopgun just posted in Live....

 

I uploaded two pics showing the gaps that I'm left with on both sides of the bearing. It seems like my 2014 DCSB has a different drive shaft than older models.

The metal caps you see up against the bearing are the OEM caps from the original bearing. The problem is that they are loose, and can be moved back and forth with my fingers.

I haven't had a chance yet to take it for a drive, so I don't know how well it's going to work. I believe that I'm going to have to take it back apart and fab some spacers for the front and rear to keep the dust shields in place though.

 

We have covered the dust caps in this thread. That bearing is sealed and no need for the dust caps.

 

So just take them off entirely?

Yeah. Mine are already off due to the bearing I've been running. Not needed if sealed.

Excellent write up and solution. Quick question for you. I'm not familiar with the All-Pro lifts. How much higher are you than stock? I think mine is about 3" higher than stock (Icon extended travel with Dakar leafs) and I'm trying to figure out how long the spacers need to be made on my setup to drop the bearing. I'd imagine the higher the lift the longer the spacers would be?

 

I can't give you exact numbers but chances are when you buy the spacer stock you will have to buy three feet of it. You could fab up a couple different lengths to try out.

 

Yeah for sure. I know I'll end up buying way more than is needed but I'd like to know kinda what his lift specs are so I can get a better starting point on mine.

 

I'd start at the minimum which was a little more than 1" I think he said if you don't get the numbers

I only keep all my vehicles for about 2 years no matter what I do to them. That and I am tired of the squeaky weatherstripping in the doors that no matter what I do it won't stop. The rattling passenger seat including the headrest. I have tried every method and it still just shakes and rattles the headrest even more. And the crappy leaf springs. I am tired of dealing with all the driveline shit because Toyota was to cheap to do a single driveshaft. It's all the small things that add up that piss you off.
