Oh this isn't a plug and play kind of thing? I have to get the bearing pressed in as well?

You will have to remove the u joint in order to get access to temove the stock bearing. I'm pretty sure you have to press it in. I don't really see it just "going in" all easy like.

Hey @Yetimetchkangmi, this carrier bearing WILL fit a first gen driveshaft no problem. Just wanted to give you a heads up that you are good to go.

All DCLB people. I did some rough measuring today as to why this mod will work for us and not present any vibes and the reason why is because after the CB is installed U pointing downward and not upwards into the tunnel is because at the differential you end up with an operating angle of less than 1 degree. I ended up with something close to .5 of a degree total.

These angles may change for DCSB and Access cab owners.

So I just was looking at the ecgs website and they had a PDF that stated they have sold over 1300 of the clam bushings, and that was whenever the PDF was made so it could be much more than that now to date. Perhaps that would be an interesting tidbit to include.

I was trying to equate the ecgs bushing repair to the iedls cb fix. Attempting to show that this could be an ongoing solution for many taco owners and could be a profitable venture if they accept your GB proposal.

    Thread update:

I just went ahead and wrote them the email to IEDLS right now that way they can read it as one of their first orders of business and have a more likely chance of replying back to me quicker today rather than some time later.

For whatever reason the contact us form wouldn't allow me to include the link to this thread so that sort of sucks. Time to cross our fingers and hope they say yes to reduced pricing!

25 members have said yes to buying it, so I think that is a solid start up number to get this show started on the road. :)

A video on actually installing the bushing in or mounting it? I could take a video on mounting it, or just showing it and giving you a general idea of what you need to do.

So the unit doesn't come as shown in the first post? I'm confused on what needs to be pressed in. And yes any insight you can provide on install or anything would be great.

The carrier bearing comes like this: mounting bracket > polyurethane bushing > sealed carrier bearing already installed.

The work you need to do in order to replace it is: remove stock driveshaft > remove u joint > remove some sort of holding nut > remove stock carrier bearing.

Install is reverse of that process all you will get is the carrier bearing/ mounting bracket assembly, you still need to install it.
