Can you use this Ford style carrier bearing on the Access cab / Extended cab Tacoma's? I see everyone saying they fit the double cab trucks but not a word about the access cab trucks.

I mean it’s a bearing. Not changing shaft length. Probably the same PN.

supposedly it does and is based on orientation of it but worth checking

many chassis things seem to be the same on ACLB and DCSB. I’m guessing same overall length with difference being bed vs can.

How long did you end up making the spacers to mount that CB? Pretty sure I'm gonna order one of these CBs for my 06 Access Cab.

I was able to use the Ford part number. Only thing I noticed is that I hear more drive line noise.

It fits my access cab but only lasted about 10.000 miles so I ended up just going with a one piece shaft.Problem solved Hope this helps

I went this route with my 06 Access cab. Installed all new Spicer u joints, one of these Ranger carrier bearings and also had my driveshaft balanced at my local driveshaft shop and it's now smooth as silk at all speeds. The Ranger carrier bearing is absolutely an Amazing mod for these trucks and it's light years better than the stock carrier bearing that was on there factory. All I needed to fit it was made two 2" round spacers and bought two 2" longer mounting bolts. All there was to fitting the new carrier bearing on my access cab.

How did you manage to ruin that? I'm still on my original back from 2015, and I have not been nice to it by any means.

The crazy thing is that I replaced my original one yesterday, and I was thinking that this thread was going to be buried and hard to find for the update..

Originally, 8 years ago I missed getting the IEDS Carrier Bearing through the group buy by a day or two. So I went in person to get one at the IEDS shop, they still honored me the group buy discount when I went to pay.

fast forward 8 years later....Last week I go in person to purchase another one, I was still in the system with notes from the original visit and got the Group Buy discount price again!!! Can't beat that kind of customer service!!

It was time for a new one.. after 8 years the actual center bearing had separated from the polyurethane..

The new one looking so fresh before the install..
    20241026_095016.jpg

    Installed with fresh U-joints..
    20241026_134447.jpg

Installed with a fresh new nut with some Red Lock-Tite applied and torqued to spec found in the WSM
    20241026_125905.jpg

Not looking so good.. but 8 years of service compared to the OEM center bearing that I was going through often at the time. The bearing itself still spins freely

Ready for another 8 years of abuse!!

    that’s what I’m wondering.

this billet one is supposedly the ultimate bulletproof version. Not sure if it fits 4x4.

    https://slewhousemotorsport.com/pro...-support-bearing?_pos=65&_sid=73a66049b&_ss=r

IEDLS I put the plate upside down with spacers so it’s not an extreme angle.
I think some angle matters more for U joints to put some movement in them so they lubricate.

to have it installed I took it to a pro driveshaft shop that put new spicer u joints, installed the IEDLS, and balanced it for a good price.
Took the shaft off dropped it off for a couple days and drove to work in FWD.

debating doing the same thing again as I believe there is also a pro driveshaft shop near me (new area)

just not sure what part I’m going to use based on this. Whether OEM, poly, or billet.

I know from my Audi days professionals say do not use poly in upper control arm bushings because they tear from flex quickly.

really not sure why it happened.
And how much it’s contributing to the truck has started driving like shit in terms of play, clunk, vibration, and difficulty shifting the manual and working the clutch.

I was originally inspecting to see if a drivetrain mount had come loose on its own over time that would cause some of those things. But they have not.

I didn’t read on after the link to the Mitch made CB… but no reason that shouldn’t work in a 4WD truck since you already have a slip yoke in your DS.

I had this sitting on the parts shelf since the original group buy. The OEM finally crapped out at 177K. Thanks @MonkeyProof for your post with the spacer and bolt dimensions. Got it installed with no vibes on a DCLB.
