I 2011 trd sport 6 speed....noticed tonight for the first time, when I release my foot from the brake pedal and it returns to its home state, it makes somewhat of a clunking sound. If I remove my foot slowly it makes no sound. Anyone else have this problem? Almost sounds like linkage hitting linkage or firewall?

I hear a clunk when i push the brake pedal.

It doesnt seem to have a pattern, just pretty random.

It's more of a situation where the brake pedal comes up too fast and hits the stop. Both the '05 Highlander we used to have did it, and my Taco does it. Always has, but I tune it out. My wife pointed it out once in one of the vehicles, and then I heard it all the time for awhile. It's just a toyota thing, as all our past toyotas have done it. I haven't paid attention to see if our '10 Highlander does it too, but I bet it does and I'm just tuning it out.

You can sit on a hill and tap the brake pedal real fast to the beat of the music. Pure awesomeness!!! It's a FEATURE!!! HA!

    same shit as everyone else
Maybe something is loose, crawl under the dash and slap the pedal around to see if it's hitting something wrong. Probably nothin to worry about.

2008 does it too, I have heard here some where it is normal. When moving out of park and releasing the pedal mine makes a " CLANK " sound.

Plus the "WOOSH " sound they say is the ABS .

My 2011 does the same thing too. It started last night when I slammed on the brakes to avoid hitting another car. Now every time I release the pedal it makes a clank as it hits something stopping the pedal. I tried looking under the dash but the pedal assembly is shielded so I guess to the dealership I go!

My 2010 does this as well...I've got used to it. Like the anti lock brakes vacuum sound each time I take off...

    I love my Tacoma.

I've got a 2011 TRD and I noticed it tonight for the first time.....very annoying clunk when releasing the pedal. I'm gonna have it checked when I go in for 5000.

I just bought a 2011 TX TRD Tuesday and I just noticed the sound tonight. It is coming from under the dash and seems to only make the noise when my truck is in park. I have 4 other Toyota vehicles none make this noise. Plus I just paid 28000 dollars for the truck, it should not make that kind of noise, it is pretty loud. Something is not right!
