has anyone replaced their cluster plastic "glass" cover?

The dealer scratched up mine pretty good during delivery, and shipped me the replacement cover because they didn't have it in stock when I was there and also were not going to offer to replace it for me so I had them ship it.

Can anybody help me out? I'm wondering if it's a tough job to do on my own.

I don't think it should be too bad, my local Toyota dealer is charging 1 hour of labor to replace it but it's an expensive hour.

I'm confused as to why the dealer isn't going to fix it if they scratched it in the first place.

If you could let us know the final dealer tally, every Toyota truck I have owned the cluster plastic scratches, fine lines, that's with a top quality cloth and windex, no matter how careful you are with it. Suggestions from those who have better luck with this chime in if you have some better strategy.

They were giving me the run around and I don't live local to the dealer so
I didn't want to fight back and keep coming back, so when they offered to pay for the part and I jumped on it and said fine just ship it to my house and I'll take care of it.

I don't even wipe mine down, I just used air in a can to dust it off.

I use that to get under the cover for those bigger particles and those pesky lil flying bastards that can get in there, works pretty good, beats tearing the dash apart.

Pull the dash there's like 4 screws and 3 harnesses that hold the cluster in. Very easy once the plastic is off

Yeah. Really pretty easy to pull that as well just don't force shit, like the area around the clock

    .
Most difficult part of the truck to clean is that soft plastic instrument cover.

Canned air ... then windex and new (never used) microfiber cloth.

I would not use windex. Get yourself a can of Plexus and new microfiber towel.

I got one of those super high fiber count expensive ass microfiber cloths - just took it out out the bag, blew the dash out with compressed air, used a very expensive helmet visor spray, and lightly patted down the dash and STILL got scratches.

I'll post the part number when I get home tomorrow
It's only about 30 bucks if anyone was to buy it.

    Yes
OP - Those covers have been very soft plastic forever, a trick I learned back in the 80's was to remove the cover and put window tint film on it. I have done It to every truck I have ever owned. They make very light tint and any tint shop would prob sell you a small piece for just a couple bucks. If you can find a commercial tint shop they will even have clear tint in stock that they use for anti graffiti purposes on business windows. Any type of tint film will be 10x more scratch proof and you will actually be able to wipe it clean without fear of scratching it.
