So yesterday I went to drop my trailer off for a buddy to use and as I was backing up to the trailer I felt a "thunk" in my foot. I didn't think much of it and went ahead and hooked up my trailer. As I was leaving and shifted from 2nd to third I noticed my clutch pedal was waaaaaay down there in the floorboard and had about 3" of travel. Once I released the clutch it stayed low for a few seconds until I tapped it with my foot and then it immediately popped back to it's normal possion with a audible thud. The clutch normal and the truck shifted just like it always does. I went ok with my trip and when I got to his house I checked the fluid, all good. Spring on the pedal was fine and I he pushrod didn't seem like it was in a bind. Tonight I got my flashlight out to investigate further and low and behold I find this thing broke all to hell. It's tight in there... AND a sprint is involved. How big of a pain in the ass is this going to be? Is this common? I searched and didn't see any info pertaining to a 2nd gen and if I did it was cold weather related.

What's broken with yours? You know that white bushing only wraps partially around the pin and the top of the pedal has a slot for the spring not a round hole. Also if you want to remove the spring fully press the pedal to the floor and you'll be able to slide it out of the clutch pedal. Don't try to remove it out the slot shove it sideways and it'll come out easily without any disassembly.

I was looking at the part last night on various parts sites and noticed it doesn't wrap all the way around. Now I'm really stumped as to why it's doing what it's doing. Back to the drawing board. It's driving me crazy.

How many miles on your truck? The symptoms you describe to me sound like a failing master or slave cylinder. Replacing or rebuilding both at the same time is usually recommended.

I'd look into replacing your master and slave. When one goes usually the other is not too far behind and usually when one dies it results in a pedal that falls to the floor. Unless you've somehow got air into the system a failing cylinder seems most likely. Just my unprofessional opinion though.

Doesn't look broken, I'm leaning more towards a failing clutch master or slave cylinder. When I removed the push-rod from the master cylinder to clean and lubricate the socket and rod, the pedal was easily pushed to the floor. A loss of hydraulic pressure would/may result in the same condition, obviously mine was done on purpose.
Once I reinstalled and adjusted pedal free-play, everything was Kosher, and subsequently, the squeaky noise I was troubleshooting has been gone since.

Well looks like I have some work on my hands. I guess I will go with OEM since it's not something I want to do again. How big of a job is this? I've done about everything there is to do on a vehicle but this is a new one on me.

Not difficult, but the location (under the dash) makes it not much fun. Get a good service manual/procedure, Youtube it as well, you might find some tips/tricks.

Slave cylinder looks pretty easy. Think I should knock that out first and see if it solves my problem before going any further?

If slave cylinder had failed there would be fluid on the ground. Replace master and slave cylinders but flush line to slave cylinder before connecting and bleeding circuit.

Checked the fluid again tonight and it was right at the minimum mark. Added some fluid and it didn't help at all. I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and see what they would charge to replace them, I'm almost afraid to know. I work 13 hour shifts and won't be off work again until the 28th :bananadead: . I'm afraid this thing will shit the bed and leave me stranded soon or I will cause more damage than what's already there.

I wouldnt go to a dealer...try to find an alignment place that does other work. Like here a perfection tire shop does a lot of different stuff. They will be cheaper in the long run.

In your first post you mention that the fluid level was fine. Your latest post states that you just added fluid. The fluid is leaking either on the ground or into the cab from the master cyl. Find out where the fluid is leaking from. You may not have to replace everything.

He might have the shared reservoir with the brakes so its at the low mark just because of normal brake pad wear.

I was just making an observation that reservoir went from full to low, indicating an external leak.

Have you owned the truck its whole life? What I'm getting at has the clutch ever had any work or issues you've noticed like slipping.

I have not, I bought it a little over a year ago. PO was the original owner and he said he has never put a clutch in it but did have a full fluid change done at 45k.

    I have two separate reservoirs.

I have looked everywhere and found no signs of leaking.

Just got off the phone with my dealer, they said it would be $300ish to change both out and they offer a 90 day warranty. Tempting. Looks like the master and slave plus fluids would run me about $150ish.
