Hey all, this one of my first threads, but i've been lurking for a minute.

I need help. I bought a babied 2000 taco xtracab, from a gent in arizona.

The good news. There is almost zero frame rust.

The bad news. I'm stationed in Utah, near salt lake.

Before the weather turns to crap (in basically 2 weeks) is there a good undercoating that will prevent rust. I'm curious what the best option is right now.

Well, i decided to cheat. I contacted the local rhino-linings place, and i'm having them undercoat my trucks frame. Huzzah. Take that, damn salt lake...

not necessary for salt, you dont want a hard under body coating because it can chip off and expose the metal, hypothetically you want a plyable compound that will stay on the frame and absorb rocks and shit that flies up and hits the frame. Toyota does do a spray for the frame, many say is always tacky and the stealership does a shitty job. Just shoot down your frame with water when you wash truck.

    A lot
How much did you pay for the rhino lining? Not sure if they have this type of service in Northern California. Thanks

Fluid Film every summer has worked for me. You can get it inside the frame rails with the proper attachments. I have surface rust living in WY but no serious rust. Truck was in CA and NV for the first 10 years of it's life. Been in WY for the last 5+.

the drawback on that is i was told the FF is not well to paint over for better coating and seal up right and proper,
so if you go spraying that stuff inside the box you are then like S-O-L with a bigger mess to deal if its not right proper firsthand
truck in NE/IA its whole days, coming upon 23yrs next week, just surface stuff found so far on outside, blasted off with great ease on outside areas
