Where have you guys installed this behemoth? I opened it up in the thought of doing this mod: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/audio-video/49635-cb-radio-cobra-29-mod-mount-center-console.html where I would extend all of the wires and keep the box under one of the seats, then put the face of it wherever I want, but I'm obviously nervous and skeptical that I have the ability to do that without messing something up. I opened it up, saw a lot of wires and still couldn't pull it all apart unless I unsoldered the motherboard from the frame. Does anybody have this unit installed somewhere they think is cool? 2nd gen by the way.

That was pretty much the only place I could see it actually fitting. I was pretty disappointed that it wouldn't fit in that cubby below the AC controls =[

Side of the console or back of the console is about the only places a full size radio will fit. I put mine on the back.

Mine is where Jandrews has his. I don't like it one bit, but with a double din radio, you know our options. I'm thinking about popping out the cup holder in the console and making a custom insert that will also hold the CB. Just planning stages now, but would really miss those cup holders.

I too tried that front cubby, which would be ideal. Thought about relocating the airbag controller, but was warned that could be a "fatal" mistake.

Cup holders in the front? Sorry I don't have an auto, I'm not sure what you are planning.

I don't have a problem with where mine is at all. Leaves plenty of legroom for the shotgun passenger, easily operable, etc.
