In light of my recent CEL being thrown and the truck going into limp mode, I discovered I need to get myself a decent code reader to help in diagnosing my truck. Do you recommend one that you temporarily plug in to diagnose and then put back in the tool box, or do you recommend a bluetooth or wired version that you leave plugged in all the time to monitor your vehicle's performance? It would be nice to easily see MPG's and such without having to calculate the old school way. Thanks for any help you guys can give.

Thanks! Looks I'll be buying a Scan Gauge then.

I suggest purchasing both the scan gauge and Bluedriver .
If you plan on keeping your truck for a few years , they will pay off quickly

The Torque app - $10. Plus the ELM 327 bluetooth gadget for $14.

BlueDriver is awesome. I also have a Launch OBD2 reader. Recommend both. BD is a nice unit and worth the cost over generic ELM stuff. Had that too.

For the time being I'm going the cheap route with an ELM27 and the Torque app. Maybe later I'll get the ScanGauge Ultra, but I don't want to drop $150 right now on one.

I have the torque pro app $10 and an ELM 327 $5. Will read and delete codes.

Right now the Torque Pro app is only $4.95. There's also a MotorData OBD app for free that looks good too.

Your right, seems I did only pay $4.95. Been a while, started using it in 2010 on my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3

I have this one, inexpensive and works well. I have an Ultragauge as well on the truck (which is awesome BTW), but I use that Amazon one for my other vehicles/girlfriend's vehicle, as necessary.

I would like to get one, but I don't want to pay that much for one. If they go on sale at some point I might pick one up.

If you want to use it for troubleshooting and have an iPad or Android tablet, buy a OBD II Bluetooth device from Amazon and an inexpensive app from the app store. You'll have a nice large display to read the data, and only be out of pocket about $30. The best part is that it will also work on your phone, so you can take it with you wherever you go.

I have had the BAFX one for a year now using it with Torque Lite, I need something that shows trans temp since apparently I have no AT temp light does the Torque Pro show that?
