    ^my badddd!
i did as much as i could last night before having to get some sleep. the driver side is about fully cut but now i know i still have alot more to do on the pass. ended up having to cut off about 1.5" off my sliders. i'll plate that later.
i need to go pick up some more sheet metal on my lunch break along with cutoff wheels.

i bought the first one(that was on my bedrack) off some website. i know that doesn't help but unfortunately i don't remember where. it was like $130 at the time. the other one was bought at the same time as my 4" last year from a group buy on here

Just curious, what gauge sheet metal are you using? What kind of welder do you have? I forgot what I used, and I'm trying to gather supplies... lol

uhhh i don't remember. i want to say it was .22 ga. i'm going to lowes in 30 for more, i'll let you know. i want more thin but i think the next thinnest lowes had was aluminum and stainless.
i don't even want to tell what welder i'm using :/ Lincoln 110. and getting the settings right for this was such a PITA. i ended up tacking then silicone over it all(pass side)

    Sweet thanks, man.

and lolz! That's better than the 80 amp stick welder i used for my tub job! I'm actually very surprised my tubs haven't fallen off yet.. hahahahaha I didn't post up close pictures for a reason. :anonymous: I'll be using my Lincoln 125 for when I redo it... I'm sure yours will be fine, man. Using flux-core .30?

oh they'll be fine. i've done all my welding on this truck with it, and everything has held up perfectly fine time after time. just gotta make sure the penetration is good.

nope, normal mig .30 weld wire. though i do have flux if i happen to need it.

Nice. Wish I had gas so I could use .25... seems like it'd be a lot better for such thin metal.

why would you want thicker wire for thinner mat? i always heard most people telling me to use higher gauge for the thinner stuff

but the thinnest lowes sells in normal steel is .22ga. .26 i feel would be perfect though :\

haha you guys wanna see something funny?
this is the most ghetto thing i've ever done. i needed more sheet metal earlier when i was working on tubbing and didn't have any other vehicle since everyone at my place was at work. so since i had to work i just used duct tape to seal the hole.

i've got most of the rubbing on the driver side taken care of. had to grind the body mount back to the first bolt and i barely rub at full lock.
so, no moving when i'm at full lock haha. i could trim a little more off but i'd also need to take some out of the cab itself where the mount is and i'm afraid of it losing structural strength. i'm debating on calling this side done and starting to plate it

okay can someone give me a good reason to not tack weld this mount where the bolt should be?

if i ever need it off i can just grind the tack off, though i never see a need there. i'm never going to do a body lift. i'm never switching cabs. i'm thinking of cutting that whole mount and basically just shaving the whole bolt hole. that would solve all my rubbing issues. OH and to add to all that, i'm sure i'll eventually design some mounts and redo it.. even if that's while i'm doing my SAS later this year.
i'm taking a break for the night, when i wake up i'm going to work more on it.
    :notsure:

    i didn't plan on a cab swap either..yet..here i am..with a new cab..haha

i wouldn't weld it personally. even though there would still be 4 other body bolts i just don't think thats a good idea..

but go for it if ya want..

will be a major PITA to relocate it. even just and and inch or so. The body is double layed metal from there back so would be tricy getting it just right i think. Not impossible though.

if you going to move it..do it now. Might as well which its all cut up anyways.

HEY GUYS GUESS WHAT. one side is finally done!
even though it doesn't look all that hot i i'm positive it'll work fine. i shaved the bolt on the mount and tacked it. oh well. if i need to cut it off eventually then i will.
at full lock it just grazes the frame. i mean just enough to knock the mud off! and doesn't touch anything else. gotta get some more silicone today on my lunch break and finish covering it up. gonna hit it from the inside too just incase i missed a spot or the silicone somehow comes off.
