Coilover ????

just got some toytec coilovers and was wondering how long should it take to install them, dealership wants to charge 425.00 4-5 hrs labor.

 

It shouldn't take that long, check out regular shops like owner operator shops. my shop did the 5100's in 1.5 hrs.

 

If they are the preasembled set, should be pretty easy to install...

 

they are already assembled. i thought that was to long also thats why i came back home.

 

Go to Sears and get some tools to do it yourself. It's not that hard to do. They should have come with installation instructions.

Install them yourself. Save some money, get to know your truck better.

 

Does that include the alignment? If so, that's about what I paid but 4WheelParts installed UCAs as well (my coilovers weren't fully assembled either).

 

If you are confident in your mechanical abilities, I don't think you could go wrong buying some tools to get the job done. Did my truck in about 3 hours (pulling apart the front coil overs and re-asmb. with spacer), that included taking apart and re assembling the rear leafs. As far as alignment goes, I would definitely try to find someone whom specializes in large tires/off road vehicles. Your dealership more then likely uses a laser alignment system that is hooked to a computer which simply tells them how to get the vehicle back to factory specs. Very few technicians know the fundamentals of custom alignment anymore and will therefor give you a poor alignment even though they claim it is 'right on.'
