coilovers and UCAs

    I have a few questions about lift options. I already have a 3" spacer lift will AALs that I installed myself with relative ease. I am considering upgrading to icon coilovers and total chaos UCAs. It won't be for about a year (I have to save up $) but I want to get all the facts.

    How difficult is it to install new UCAs? Are any special tools required?
    I'm pretty sure I won't have any problems installing the coilovers, since I've already done a spacer lift, but I've never done anything with UCAs.

    Also, I saw on the Icon website that the coilovers are rebuildable. I was wondering how often they need to be rebuilt and how someone would do that. How durable are Icon coilovers? I'm planning on keeping the truck for a long time, so I want coilovers that will hopefully last as long as the truck.

    4.10 gears, sliders, and lots of buttons.
    Coilover rebuilds depend on use. Most people I talk to rebuild them once a year. Some people have gone longer. Installing the UCA's is a walk in the park. The most dificult thing is removeing the stock UCA's as the bolt comes out twards the front of the vehicle. Installing is easy as you just put the bolt in from the rear. :)

    I just did this last week. Icons and TC UCAs. Chris said it. UCAs are the bitch part. Took me and a buddy about 3 hrs.

    how hard is it to rebuild coilovers. Is it something that i can do myself, or is it something that needs to be done professionally by a shop

    also, if i replace only the UCA, how much will it improve my ride...if I have a spacer lift?

    UCA's will (depending on brand) return lost caster from the lift, and give more down travle. Rebuilding the coilovers is not that hard. Just time consuming snice you have to remove them, take them apart, put them together and then reinstall them. :)

    This doesn't make any sense to me.... Aren't coilovers simply a coil spring and a shock? Why would you need to rebuild your shocks every year? I've never had to replace shocks on anything that often.

    i think mostly that is talking about the ones where people do some pretty hardcore offroad very often, like every week or so. if its just like a weekend warrior on the trails and a daily driver, they probably wont need to be rebuilt too often.

    so if i get coilovers how long will i (on average) have to rebuild them if i go offroading very little to moderate in just mud? i thought that they wouldn't have to be rebuilt for some reason because i'm a noob ha

    you prob wont have to rebuild them for a very long time, if ever. it will tell you by itself when it needs to be done.
