I got the Momentum GT air intake system by afe on my 3rd gen and it sounds nice and I notice a difference in power but when you put the pedal down at a complete stop it’s stalls the engine for a good second or two before the truck actually goes. I remember this happening to my first gen when the mass airflow Senator would get dirty. It’s the same exact way. What the heck is happening with this. Only with the intake installed. I pulled it and out the stock back in and I have no issues. Does not stall when coasting and you hammer down on the accelerator. Thoughts and suggestions

Could be something else wrong with vehicle or stock tune doesn't like the extra air. Others have done CAI with no issues

Dang man. I really liked my intake but I’m going to toss it out. I was debating a new digital throttle controller but I’m worried I’ll come across the same sort of issues as the intake. I cleaned the MAS and didn’t change anything. Can’t think of anything else that would be causing the hesitation

The issue is that you’re going 100% throttle from a stop with a bigger intake tube lol.
There is nothing wrong with the intake.

If this is the case why have the others who posted with the same unit said they have not experienced the issue?

Do yourself a favor and do a full PCM reset by disconnecting the battery for 15-20 minutes before hooking it back up and then try driving it again. The new increase in airflow probably has the PCM confused and it needs a full value relearn prior to just slapping it on and calling it good.

Before throwing this one out try a good cleaning of the throttle body and mass air flow sensor...….

I did that on my 2006 and the hesitation was gone like the Dodo. Cheap and easy fix. If it works.
    Good luck..

ill give it another shot. I originally had to do that when I installed the unit because I had some lights on in the dash. I would like to keep this unit because it’s awesome and that is why I’m asking for advise. Much appreciated

i have cleaned the system and noticed the issue wasn’t as severe but shortly after went back to doing the same thing. Maybe lasted 50 miles.

I won’t be tossing it out to the trash. Sorry you got that impression. However I will be willing to sell if I cannot get the issues to stop. I’ll keep you posted

I'm sure you got the check engine light, the traction control light, and the VSA light if I was to take a guess right?

Try the reset while you reinstall the intake. Hopefully it works.
