You 100% sure it's seated correctly and not letting in un-metered air? Sounds like what happens when you have vacuum leak.

Please wait in the waiting room with the people who plan on putting TWO (2) turbos under the hood of this truck. Lulz.

Cant wait for the threads where people’s daily drivers become daily lawn ornaments. There is no other outcome. Behold the vast wasteland.

It could be your tranny instead. I have the factory TRD CAI and yet I also experienced that same phenomenon. I subsequently had the tranny software update and problem solved; also the tranny no longer hunts for gears. TSB 0062-18 is what I had done. Good luck.

They'll be able to line them up in two rows, and the military could land a C-5 Galaxy using the CELs as runway lights.

I had stumbling a while back, at two busy intersections while turning right, fkn scary. I told my service guy about it and the TSB 0062-18, which they did and never had it come back.

    Good Call!

I can think of a few things. First, how long was the intake on there? There would be a learning process you know. Second, More air requires more fuel. When was the last time you changed the plugs, run some injector cleaner through it? I'm not a fan of K&N air filters or cold air intakes. They can screw with Air/Fuel. These trucks are designed by some little japanese guy that makes $788,923 a year, and is a Ninja. I don't screw with those folks. He said you get this much air,,,,,and dat is dat..."There are limits..lol. Throw some plugs at it. It will never hurt.

Worth a shot. You should contact afe about your issue. Why didn't you go with the TRD cai? I've run them on both my Tacoma's.

Aftermarket advertised in a fancy box, promising 10% more HP, 5% better fuel mileage, and goose bumps on your ass. You know the deal.

Yes, there are many differences between the OEM CAI, TRD CAI, and aftermarket CAI system.

The AFe legitimately sucks in way more air than the TRD one does. If I had my way I would buy the AFe Momentum but I live in California so.

LMAO. I think the Japanese moved the air filter off the carb.....ah when they took off the carb....almost 99 years before the CAI had it's own shelf at Pep Boys and Autozone.

I experienced ‘similar’ scenarios with the AFE when first installed. I tried taping up the seams on the ram air scoop and it seemed to do the trick.
Trouble is I taped the seams and installed an exhaust at the same time. Don’t know which solved it.
I’ll snap a pic tomorrow showing what I mean.

Also, are you using the ram scoop and/or the waterproof filter screen?

Also interesting fact, AFE used to make Toyota’s TRD intake systems.
