Got an entire hub assembly to keep in the truck box as a spare.

 

Guess i won't be looking for a stock intake anymore. just ordered a Volant intake. I think i figured out how to modify it to hook up to a snorkel, but it'll be interesting none the less

 

Damn I didn't know you needed a stock intake. I have one in my attic!!

 

no worries, i was really hoping to make an aftermarket one work, i was just looking around for stock for a little because i wasn't sure how. plus i like the vroom vroom sound

 

Volants are cool. I had one on my peerunner...

I had an AFE Stage II CAI plumbed to my snorkel...

It was a PITA and did not do anything "better" than using the stock airbox & stock filter.

Yeah, I saw your posts in the snorkel "how to" thread about the AFE. never saw pictures of the finished product, but knew you had done it.

i'm well aware that there's no benefit to one on the driving side of things. i just like the aftermarket style intakes for the space under the hood that they create. I'm already a little tight on space up there, with more "stuff" to come, so maintaining the aftermarket style filter box like what i have now will really help me out in the future.

 

It was cool when you pushed in the skinny pedal hard, other then that nothing to noticeable about it. I'm stock now and will stay that way...

 

yeah, that's how my current intake is. I built one from scratch and it has worked very well so far. sounds great and creates the needed space under the hood. only reason i have to change up is because although it's great with dust and dirt, it is far from watertight.

 

got the spare hub all sealed up for storage in the truck box.



also took care of the broken temp/compass display. damn 510 was just bouncing around inside the display housing. resoldered both 510s and the three 181s.

 

Do you have a mod list anywhere Colin? Also, are you running a XRC10? I only ask because it looks like I can get the XRC10 with synthetic for around $550, whereas the Warn VR10000S is around $830. Have you had any problems with it? Just curious if the Warn is worth it for $300 more.

I don't have a list posted, but a ton of people have been asking about one recently. I have one in a word document that i've been putting together over the last couple days when i have free time. i'll post it as soon as it's done.

I I have the xrc10 comp, the one with synthetic line you're looking at. I got it off of Amazon. i have prime, so it only ran me $550 with free two day shipping. I have about the same amount of money in other winch accessories and hookups lol.

anyways, great winch, i'd buy it again in a heartbeat. only things you'll want to do it you get one are 1) take apart and seal up the solenoid 2) take apart and regrease the gears in the winch itself.

There is a writeup on here about taking it apart if you want some guidence. when i had mine apart, i took the opertunity to also tear out the factory "gaskets" and completely seal up the entire winch. so for $550 and some time (i already had greas and sealing materials), you have a 100% waterproof winch that spools smoothe as butter.

How does one go about sealing the solenoid? After reading all the things you have posted regarding your winch, I am wondering if I should seal mine up before I install it? I don't think I will worry about the grease or sealing the unit, but I think doing the solenoid might be a good idea. Remember I have the super winch LP10000. Thanks.

 

you'll take the solenoid out of the giant plastic housing it's in. don't know how super does theirs, but it's probably just 3-4 small screws. once you have the solenoid out, just follow Max's writeup. odds are, the solenoids are identical, or very close. i actually removed the factory gasket in mine and replaced it with globs of silicone.
