that OD being 4th instead of 5th probs is a big reason why you getting 10mpg im sure.

My only quirk with the truck is that the tranny is legendarily bad

hopefully it stays in one piece.

The transmission case is the same as the 6-speed so if I wanted to add in the 6th gear I can but it only gets 1mpg better. I really need to get 33’s. The previous owner installed smaller than stock tires so the engine is screaming on the highway.

What tire size you running now? I figure smaller tires would be better

245/75r16 which is 1” smaller than stock. Usually bigger tires use more fuel but the 8.1L likes lower rpms

Found some OEM Laramie Headlights locally for 75$. Pretty solid score. gonna retrofit them at some point.

No issues with the truck. She rolling along and ive been averaging 16mpg which is pretty good for a 8K truck on 33's

Truck just rolled over 235K (4000 miles) so figured an update was in order.

Been averaging almost 18MPG on a bone stock 8,000lb truck so thats been a welcome sight coming from my Tacoma.

She's been doing good, no issues. Got a minor oil leak from the front timing cover but its a few drops every few weeks so i haven't put much stock in it.

Swapped the tailights to the new "rebel" LED OEM taillights that come on the Rebel rams and sport trim models.

Wife got me a Weather Guard Toolbox to carry all my shit and that was appreciated.

Besides that im just saving for a Delete kit and a 4"/5" exhaust to go along with it.

Eventually i'll level the truck with a Carli Suspension Commuter kit, throw some 35's on it and just drive it. I love having too much truck because now i cant really upgrade to something else lol

Is it geared 4:10? My dad had almost that exact same truck and gas mileage sucked on it, 11 on a good day not towing anything. He tried different size tires, exhaust, etc. No change on mileage. I have a 2003 GMC crew cab short bed but it has a Duramax, I get close to 20 if I drive like I have some sense. Had the trans built a few years ago and it made a ton of difference. You can feel the torque converter lock now and it feels like it has another gear in it.

Now back to the regularly scheduled Dodge talk :anonymous:

 if it's truck talk it's welcomed here

Also: It's Ram :p Every truck after 2009 is.

Gear ratio i suspect is why his milage is bad lol. My truck has 3.42 gearing, not super ideal for towing but fuel economy is alot better than my 4.10 ram counterparts

Yeah, 4:10’s. There is no way around it, gas mileage just sucks. I need to get some 33’s for it. The engine is singing at 75-80mph with the smaller than stock tires.

I would have loved a LBZ Diesel engine but I couldn’t find any that had less than 200k miles for under $25k and long beds were impossible to find in general.

I ended up buying this one with 94k miles for $15.5k

Finding a low mileage old diesel is fucking HARD to do.

Im not even mad for paying 24K for mine with 231K miles. They're continuing to be rarer to find and the new diesels cost as much as homes these days.

My dad wasn't looking to sell his, where he gets his tire work done somebody called him out of the blue one day and ask if he wanted to sell it. He didn't drive it much anymore so he sold it, it had 89K miles loaded with leather, etc. for $14,500.
I need to drive mine more, it's a '03 with 165K miles. I've put 8k miles on it in 4 years since having the trans built :anonymous:

My buddy who does powdercoat paint bought a new AT4 Duramax almost 2 years ago, he gave $78K for it and has been offered more than that for it :eek::eek:

    Show me yo Truck :spy:

Thats fucking disgusting. I cannot believe the price of new diesel trucks. It really makes the older ones like mine look like good value.
