I would rather they be over built. I also like how flush they mount, espcially if they never bend. :D

Damn man! What a mess. Now I am going to be zig zagging all over on my bike trying to stay out of the pot holes. I have hit a few and definitely got squirrly but that must have been a big one to kick you over the front.

Whats the point in the kickout? To push the truck away from the big rocks so you don't hit your rear fenders or wide tires on it?

There is some video, it might be on youtube, of an all pro wheeling trip where this guy in a red truck uses the kick out perfectly (great description, I know, but it's out there). One main purpose of the kick out is to 'pivot' the truck around an obstacle, especially on a tight turn.

Thanks for the ideas. Are you thinking a replacement (high clearance) towing hitch is what you'd like to see, or something else?

For the front tube style bumpers, do you mean like the ARB bumpers or more like the "baha" style bumpers? I thought they made those for 2nd gen but I guess I haven't looked into those too much, myself.
When I'm talking about the style, I mean two things -
    1. the style of materials: (i.e. tube vs plate vs ??? - maybe cast??) or build (solid welded or like the all-pro where you assemble and bolt plates together yourself)
    2. the actual look of the armor. obviously, when I say armor I'm not talking about plastic tubes, but a functional protection for your truck. look at ARB vs All Pro - totally different style. I am trying to explore ideas beyond simple round tubes welded together, especially for sliders. perhaps something that has a destintive design element. can it be solid AND look badass, or does the look not really matter in your decision?

So, knowing that we can have a conversation with two people who have three opinions, ;) this seems like something that would need to be an option - kickouts or straight? Do you prefer having the sliders up nice and tight, or further away from the truck? Also, do you prefer the extra plate to protect the body (slee style), or just mounts which attach to the truck (most others)?

Sorry if I missed anyone elses response. I appreciate the input, and some of you local guys will eventually get to see the results. I'm going to the shop tonight to get some measurements and go over some design ideas he's come up with. I'll pass along some of your feedback, I think they'll be happy to hear there is some interest from local people to buy from local fabricators. Simply not having to pay shipping would cut $100+ off the cost, which is why I started pursuing this in the first place.
