    They would probably ride pretty squishy on a second gen, but maybe not due to the digressive valving. I've never read about anyone with that set up though.

    I think they come with 650# springs. I run them with 700# so I guess I'm no help.

    Yah I added 700 lb springs (with no preload) a couple years ago and the top plate snapped on one of them and both 12pt bolts holding the top plates to the shock snapped as well. I don't wheel the truck hard, so I don't think it was from abuse.

    I'm planning on doing aluminum bumpers and maybe skids on this truck, so I'm interested to see if I can soften up the springs to match.

    Yes this. I have 700lb Eibach springs on mine. The 650lb 13" springs had to be cranked up too much with my bumper amd winch on the front. I'd imagine 14" 600lb springs would be too soft for anything but the stock bumper.

    Icon. That was the second top plate that broke. A few years ago both top plates broke on the double sheer portion (both sides), so they sent me new beefed up plates because it was supposedly an issue on earlier shocks.

    This plate broke in the back right through the bolt, so I guess the new design fixed the double sheer issue?

    I emailed icon about getting a new plate and they said the max exposed thread for preloading is 2.13". That is with the stock springs though. I had 0 preload with 14" 700 lb springs
