Lol I just have a really squeaky clutch. I read a thread you were in back in 2012, and decided to order the brake return spring and use it on the clutch. $4 and change at the local Toyota dealer, should be here Monday.

 

Yeah, I don't understand all the "purists" who say that is not a proper remedy and say to upgrade the torsion spring with brass fittings and other stuff.

I believe all the 4-cyl trucks use a return spring while only the 3.4 used the torsion spring. Has it been 5 years since I've done this? If so, it's been flawless, quiet and working perfectly normal for 5 years.

 

I feel like this is something jake should be posting.

Sure has been 5 years lol. That's good to hear though, that it works. A lot of time with these old threads, people never follow up or the OP is long gone.

Edit: I also read there that it helps with cruise control engagement. I probably have this issue, too. I just thought my cruise control was flaky because it only works half the time.

Yup. That was a huge bonus for me.

I wish the OP would update the first post because that linear spring he used ended up being dangerous in the long run.

 

@Coop68 the rack is finally on! Sucks the rear sits a little low, gonna need to shim it up about 1/2". Most likely something with the shell or the roof tracks are a little more low profile.

Yikes. Good luck and be safe. If you make it over to Treasure Island from Tampa or St. Petersburg, let me know how that is. My in-laws have property there and are pretty worried.
