 surely they plan to take some Tacoma market. Just because they're behind doesn't mean they should give up. It's a good competitor.
What did he lose? I don't think he cares how many Colorados are sold, he just wanted to talk about the commercials. Who cares if we're promoting them? If anything it helps us via competition
That's strange... why don't they just use composite? I haven't seen anyone have a dented bed in a tacoma. Is composite weaker?

I'd be surprised if a composite bed held up to the abuse 1 ton work trucks get.

We run a fleet of trucks. All brand of steel beds bend, including the newer trucks with the "rolled steel". It's better than breaking I guess.

I wonder if it could be made thicker. I have read composite is stronger than steel per weight.

The entire 3rd gen section is free advertising for the Colorado if that's what you want to call it. I just find it awkward that a brand new truck thats re-entering the market is targeting a completely opposite segment.

Composite is fine for light duty, like a Tacoma, imo...but on a full size truck? I don't think it'd hold up, and if it did it would be a lot more expensive to make. Also, composite breaks and has to be completely replaced, which is expensive...steel will just bend (most of the time).

MotorTrend is a joke and car and truck of the year is an even bigger joke, its strictly for entertainment. I mean, they had the 1997 Malibu winning the car of the back in 1997

    http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/oneyear/112_9809_1997_chevy_malibu/

"More than three-quarters of the surveyed owners listed the Malibu's fresh, clean styling as a major influence in the buying decision with 21 percent saying it was the primary reason they chose the car. "Value" and "prior Chevrolet ownership" ranked second and third at 14 and 13 percent, respectively. Strangely, several said they bought the car because they had owned a previous-generation Malibu, a rear-driver with nothing but its name in common with the new model."

Are you kidding? 3/4 of the morons bought it for its "good" looks?

Chevy has some buyers for the Colorado and Canyon for sure. "hey, that truck looks cool, lets buy it"

It seems that winning Truck or Car of The Year is equal to the jinx of having your picture on the front of Sports Illustrated.

That's a pretty bad jinx, almost as bad as the cover of Madden.

    Or winning the Heisman trophy.
