Well at least all the Sheriff's have stated the law is un-enforceable so there is still a bit of hope that it will be un-done. However Magpul is in WY for good.

I do miss living in Colorado. What I miss most is all the wildlife you see when driving I-70. Deer, buffalo, elk, bighorn sheep. It was awesome. In California, the only wildlife you would see is bums and homeless walking the streets. Ha.

It's nice when the colder weather hits and there's snow on the ground. Most of those types disappear for the season.

My aunt and uncle lived in Kremmling. My aunt taught 3rd grade in Silverthorne until she retired. They sold their place and now travel the US in a motorhome haha

You guys are making me not as excited to move home after the military with how crowded it's gotten. Plus the trash that @303tacoma mentioned.. that's just lazy douche canoe's. Being stationed in Alaska a few years ago it now doesn't seem like a bad idea to move there :D

Can't echo what these guys said loud enough. I loved colorado, never thought I'd ever leave. Now the wife and I are planning on moving because we absolutely HATE what it's becoming/has become. Every single day I meet someone, or see someone post online "just moved here from socal, or looking to move to CO" it's unreal. Been doing research and Idaho and Montana are being hit just like us. We will most likely be moving to utah very soon before they go to crap as well. Everyone comes out here and has no clue what public land is and just destroys it. Traffic is horrible compared to what it used to be. Motorcycle deaths are up 50% since the legalization of marijuana. Do some googling and you will see how the legalization is destroying co. If you come from cali I'm afraid you'll be quite disappointed.

What i have seen especially working in the ski industry and seeing lots of people come and go it that a lot of people don't understand how fragile the west is. I have a friend who grew up in the mid-west on some property and its amazing to hear stories of him trashing his field doing doughnuts and by the next year everything growing back like normal. we need to educate people more and it will help. Just look at all the TP around. I bet other climates the poop and TP would decompose not out here especially not up high in the mountains or in the desert. Lots of people i think say "only once" is not a big deal when they visit or move here but unless you see things change over long periods of time you cant tell how much that "only once" statement effects everyone. You are not the only one who has thought the only "only once" and when everyone does it it adds up quick. Like some one stated above treat the outdoors like your home pack it in pack it out and stay the trail. rant over.

I agree wish it was never legalized. traffic is a whole other story. traffic everywhere any day of the week, and remember i don't live in Denver and barely ever visit. traffic sucks and people are driving like crazy people now.

Traffic is horrible in the suburbs and mountains. Denver I'm sure is nipping at the heels of socal traffic.

For those prices, just buy some land and sit and wait. I'm sure you know this, but the only problem with remote property like those, is accessibility. Power, water, and cities are gonna be far away. If you are dead set on remote living, those will be perfect. But keep in mind you will have to somehow get power (solar?) and a big propane tank is what most mountain cabins run on. Digging a well can be pricey, as can doing septic. As long as you know these things going in, you'll be good.
If you're shooting for off the grid, you need to steer very clear of I-25 and I-70. I thought I read somewhere that 90% of Colorado's population lives within ~30 miles of I-25. I guess it makes sense, that's where the cities are and that's where the jobs are.

Once I win powerball, I'm getting a few hundred acres in the Sangre de Cristos (SW part of the state) and only seeing people when I choose.
