What shifter set up are you using for your A750f?

I unbolted the lever on the side of a a340 and bolted it to the 750. Then shortened the link between the shifter and lever on the side of the transmission.

I thought the a750f had a gated shifter. How did you make that work with the old a340f shifter? Pics please?

Lucky for me, the a750 has the same lever on the side of the transmission has the same number of positions that the 340 does. The gates in the 750 are all switches in the actual shifter. I wired in a pair of relays on the OD off button to control 4th and 1st.

    @BossFoss

This guy did the multi mode tcase. But wasn't with the manual now that i think about it. Not sure if it'll bolt up to the r150

The multi mode tcase will bolt to an R150.

V6 tcases are all the same as far as mating surfaces and input shafts. The 4cyl auto is the same as the v6 but uses a "forward" shifter mounted on the transmission. The w59 tcase has a 26 spline input.

    Thanks!

What kind of wiring does it require. Does the main ecu run it or does it have a separate brain? I have the main ecu it was connected to but nothing else with it. If it's too much hassle I will just stick with the J shift.

It's fairly involved. There is a standalone ecu for the multi mode tcase. There are two versions (99-00) and (01-02). The 99 version uses a vacuum ADD actuator and retains the standard J-shift pattern. The 01 version uses an electronic ADD actuator and has the newer Hi/Lo tcase lever with center diff button on the dash.

So aside from wiring the Tcase ecu you need to swap in a add front diff to match the year tacse/ecu you choose.

I have the j shift. Came out of a 2000 hilux surf from Japan. Hmmm well I guess if I happen to come across an ecu I will give it a go. More concerned about getting the engine in and running that an extra mode of 4wd.

This has been a long time coming. The resivour is from a 95era LS400. The pump is a 98-00 1uz pump.

From my parts gathering, it seems that all the 1/3uz pump bodies are the sane, with two different backing plates/mounts. The vvti 1uz and 3uz have the correct/same mounting points as the 2uz. The vvti 1uz and 3uz also have the correct pulley to line up with the other accessory pulleys. The non vvti pump has the resivour I used. Note, that the 3uz has a form of ecu controlled power steering assist. I can't think of the name while I'm typing this, but what is important is, that sensor can be unbolted and thus just like the other 1uz pumps.

The 2uz uses the same pump as the 2/3rz and 5vz. This pump uses a separate mount to bolt to the block. This mount has a stud in it. I removed this stud and installed it in the head. This was the only modification I made to the head. The stud threaded right into a hole already mentioned for the power steering bracket.

The 1uz pump w/ factory resivour would not clear the timing cover, or the timing gear for that matter.

I began to think, and after a few hours of looking, it occurred to me that the vvti 1uz and 3uz has a hose fittings that bolts to the top of the pump. After eyeballing this, I cut about a 1/2" from the end of the metal pipe. Right about where the clamp would go. I then stretched the opening of the pipe to the point the bottom of the resivour fit snuggly in the top of the pipe.

Once together, I test fitted on my back up 2uz, then off to my fab guy for tome fancy forever glue.
And here is the finished product. Checking the fluid might be a bit tough, but hopefully it's not an all the time thing.
In other news, I discovered that the 00-06 Tundra w 2uz have a TSB dealing with accessory drive belt squeaks. Basically, it says that the AC compressor bracket is holding the compressor slightly out of line with the other pullies. This wearing the belt and causing squeaks in a few thousand miles. Toyota has a revised bracket, so I picked one up from Gunney. That along with a new fan idler pulley, and a gatorback belt should solve the annoying noises come from the accessories.

I have a few more things to share, but I don't have the parts yet. So I'll save that for another post. Hopefully I'll have more in a week or so!

was there an advantage to going to a 1uz pump?

Pump mounted resivour. Cleaned up my inner fender and removed the lines to and from the pump to resivour.

The pumps are bigger, but so is the pulley. So, idk if there is any volume/performance gains. I just hated the remote resivour.

One stop closer to being 100%. Finally got a radiator that fits my truck and is not too bulky. Its from a 96-02 Hilux Surf with I believe the 4cyl 1kz diesel engine. Whats special about this radiator is, Its basically the same radiator that comes in the Tacoma/4Runners, but the inlet and outlet are on the opposite sides. I hope to be able to mount 2-12" spal low profile fans. and have a shroud made.

Getting ever so close to being back up. New radiator in, fans mounted, however one of my spal fans is having issues. SO, back out the radiator has to come. Might change fans yet again for more CFM now that I have a 2 core radiator and have an extra 1" or so. This should just about double the CFM through the core.

Also, I'm doubling up on my external transmission cooler, and I will NOT be using the cooler in the radiator. Hopefully this will lighten the load on the cooling system when wheeling, Which has been an issue I've been struggling with since my motor swap. Ill also be using a Thermo bypass on the transmission cooler to hopefully prevent the transmission from running too cool in the winter.

Aaaaaaaaand, I have joined the 01-04 front end club.....:D:D
