Was yours intentionally ordered taller than the cab? I ask because I know the bed rails are taller than on the 2nd gen. I looks good when you have a cab roof rack, without? Not so sure.

Yes I wanted it to be comfortable to sleep back there. I can comfortably lay on my side in my elbow and have enough headroom. Also made my platform so that the center can be moved down so that if the weather turns really bad I can sit up back there.
    IMG_6054.jpg

And agreed that might not look as good without a rack on the cab.

Above is where I started with my topper. Below is our overland pictures. For the record, a extra spare tire fits perfect on the roof between the bars and the rack can go on and off.

Nice set up! Did you build the rack for the shell? How does it attach to the shell? Any idea on the weight limit for it?

Weight limit of this topper is 900lbs.

The rack is the stock rack but I cut off the long tips and for new end caps online. The screws come out easy enough and I just fill the holes whit clear silicon when its not on.

You could also open the sliding windows and stick your feet through. I did that a couple times when I had a DCSB.

Anyone happen to have an Alu Cab Explorer Canopy and live in the Midwest? I've got a DCLB and would love to check one out in person before I order one.
