Just thought I’d ask what campers people are using on there 2016+ Tacoma’s? I’ve looked at GFC, earth cruiser’s, and Kimbo’s. I have yet to see a vagabond in person. I’ve heard good things about them. Any insight, thoughts, suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I’m preferably looking for a used unit over new.
    Regards,
    Joe

One does not simply buy a camper these days. Wait times are approaching a year at main manufacturers and used campers are snatched up in minutes of being advertised. Also, there is a huge range in features from GFC to Kimbos. And then Earth Cruisers are like $300,000 on the low end... I'll assume you were thinking of something else... so the most important thing is for you to figure out what you want, and then narrow it down to mfgs. There is not going to be a perfect camper solution, no matter what you decided on, you will have to sacrifice some features over others.

As far as options go, GFCs have reputation for poor quality, Super Pacific or AT Overland might be good alternatives. A Kimbo is just going to be too heavy for a Tacoma, I don't care what the marketing materials say. Same goes for 4WC (not their Project-M though).

^ I always love it when someone inserts an opinion, doesn't bother to substantiate it with any kind of evidence, and then claims the thread should be over.

There's a dude who's driving around the world with his tacoma with a bed camper. I'm forgetting the @, but maybe someone can chime in with it

It's a drop mic type statement...

It's sub 500lbs, low wait time, same price range as others, full aluminum build, insulated roof you can walk on, tailgate delete to reduce dust intrusion, prewired for solar, comes with national luna lighting, a well known brand that has been building expedition style campers for a long time, etc.

EDIT: Can carry spare on back door, roof struts lift 300lbs, lots of accessories available, extra roof height is great for tall people with big feet, extrusions for bolting to, its just keeps going...

I ordered an OVRLND camper. Was between an Alucab Canopy Camper, a Vagabond Drifter, and the OVRLND.

Vagabond - amazing, but extremely long wait times

Alucab - amazing, but felt limited in customization

OVRLND - longer wait time than an Alucab, but less than Vagabond. Lighter than both. More space than both. More customization than both.

There are so many companies that've sprung up recently. hiatus campers, skinny guy campers, etc, etc, etc.

I have nothing against GFC, but I'd never buy one unless I was only ever going to be in the Southwest.

yes that’s us! We’re currently in Belgium after driving 25,000 miles in the US and Baja. We’ve been full timing it in our 4WC fleet for the past year and love it!

We converted an ARE contractor canopy. Cheap, light, quick delivery. Was able to customize to our liking.
