How many miles you got on those 1A Auto front wheel bearings? I've got about 10K miles on a pair, and they're working like they should.

Well, regardless of the thread, I ordered 3 weeks back and installed a set of front bearings from @BamaToy1997. He has a decent price and I've had no issues with his product. This is the second set I have installed from Marion Bumper to Bumper.

Yep, my dealings with him have been good, and I'm willing to wait for his product.

I ran a set of his for about 30k before i traded in and they gave me no signs of problems at that point. That was with 4.5bs atx mojaves paired with 255/80/17 km2s, then st maxx. Both e rated. Good quality and good price.

The selling of these Toyota 4x4 bearing assemblies have become quite competitive. Since I have a press, I buy the parts and assemble them myself. I off-road and am on my third set. Currently coming up to 20K on DuraGo bearing/hub assemblies. I paid about $80 for the assembly kit on Amazon; I now see them for $50 - #29596058. Yes, made in China, but I have had good experienced with DuraGo QC on brake parts and, so far, the bearing assemblies are holding up well.

I see a TRQ brand on amazon for $72 - pressed and ready to bolt on (just need the o-ring) - dang, at that price, I may just try them out next time.

For the 1st bearing replacement, I paid $50 for Precision brand bearings, plus another $50, each, to remove the old races and press in the new assemblies on the OEM hub - this was before I bought my press. Those bearings are China-made and lasted about 50K. Not too bad for the abuse I put them through.

With all due respect, you do realize that saying a wheel bearing (or any number of other automotive parts) is still good after only 10,000 miles is not the most glowing or scientific review right? It's like saying "I made it to the end of my driveway with zero issues."

I'm old enough to remember when wheel bearings used to last the life of a vehicle - with no service of any kind needed. Thank the Chinese for dragging the quality of yet another product down the tubes.

Yes, I do understand 10K miles on wheel bearing is not much to brag about, and I too have serviced the pre-Tacoma type bearings. I was just wanting to get some info out there about these cheap 1A Auto bearing assemblies, and that happens to be the mileage I currently have on my set at the moment. I plan on keeping the community updated as the miles add up...........

@Too Stroked I sense racial overtones in your comment.
I'm old enough to remember when some American corporations weren't run by greed, corruption, and profit-mongering. You can thank them for outsourcing overseas. Don't blame the Chinese..

"Racial overtones"? LOL. I guess you wake up looking for a reason to be offended.

I wake up "Chinese" every day... do you? I doubt it....so that's why you probably don't get it.

If you are Chinese (or not) and still don't get it...feel free to PM me and discuss.

OP: sorry to get sidetracked. I appreciate your dissection of these bearings.

No racial undertones at all. Just 36 years in manufacturing in a large company that was eventually forced to outsource work to China to "remain competitive." I've been there many times and seen what happens there first hand. (Have you?) The Chinese don't give a rat's a__ about patents, intellectual property, copyright laws, etc. and will steal / copy virtually anything for their own gain. What this has led to is a torrent of utterly awful quality products flooding the shores of our country as well as others. The knock off bearings mentioned in this post are a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

No racial overtones. Never have. Never will. Just inconvenient truths.

Being both Asian and an engineer I don't think meant anything racial by it - realistically a lot of the automotive manufacturing for one of my former companies was pushed down the Mexico then over to India regardless of the downfall of the quality. In some industries they just care for quantity not quality.

With that being said lets get back on topic.
I'm sending the bearings back with no desire for replacements. I will however be leaving a review of their parts on their product page.

Chuy, your crazy for buying these bearings. But you aren't in it for the distance and have a press, I approve! Your making the best out of bad market.

As for lifetime wheel bearings... my ass. Look at Chuy, he is not a victim of globalization or "free enterprise."
