Compass and Temperature HELP

I have a 2014 Tacoma and really miss the compass and temperature. I have checked, and the extra wiring connector is up in the center console area. Also the outside temperature sensor is in front of the radiator on the center below the hood latch area.

If I can find and but a new one and plug it in will it work ?

 

You're looking for a Gentex model

Not sure I am on the right track. On my 2008 Tacoma. The flip down sun glass holder was a temperature and compass display.

Did they change it where it is no longer in that area ?

 

They deleted it. For 2014 you'll need to get a Gentex mirror.

 

I see where their is a complete kit. But who sells it.

I got my mirror from him, it was priced better than Amazon, Autodax, etc. AND he gives you the correct plug to wire up your mirror.

 

my '12 was prewired for everything except the power to the homelink inside the mirror. so if you plug it in, and everything works except the homelink function just drop a power wire into the missing pin on the harness from the map lights and the homelink will have power.

 

I just installed an auto-dimming mirror with temp and compass display on my 14 TRD DblCab . I got one off Amazon for a little over $200. Gentex model#: 50-GenK-20A. Kit came with connector to mate with the existing connector in headliner. The kit is year specific. You do have to add a temp sensor, also included in the kit. The OE temp probe is probably for engine fuel management, do not tap into it! The kit also included very good instructions. Whole thing was fairly easy to do and works great.

I ordered a used one from him with the kit. Total cost was only $139 ! A bargain as far as I am concerned. Still can't believe Toyota took it off of the vehicle !

As far as the built in radio HD weather. It does actually work if you live in Chicago, or another major place. But since we have HD radio in Champaign,IL, I personally think that any location that has HD radio should have the weather for the radio !
