I recently purchased an 06 TRD Sport. Did not notice until I got it home that it had the temp and compass display. I just assumed that it maybe did not have the installed option but after doing some reading I would now think if it did not have the option installed it would have the garage door opener slot instead and maybe I have the well documented solder problem most have with the compass and temp gauge. Would this be correct that the compass and temp probably would not be there if this was not a factory install? Thanks your thoughts on this.

If you have a TRD model and the display, it is wired for it and should work. Like you've already said, I would take it down and see if it's the resistor that needs soldered.

Thanks, that is kind of what I was thinking. I would not think Toyota would go to the expense to install that feature and not wire it or hook it up. I will be checking the solder issue out this weekend.
