People who HATE third gens...like...do they know they don't have to buy one? It is a better truck in every conceivable manner. It has a different transmission mission feel so lets initiate the apocalypse....

 

Probably those people are under the mistaken impression that they need to own a Tacoma to be a member of TW.

By the time they realize it wasn't necessary, it's too late......

But as a consolation prize, they get a public venue for their whining....

Just a guess though.

Since I don't understand how anyone couldn't like their 3rd gen Tacoma.

In many other areas around our beautiful planet, people can only complain about the new donkey they got and how it doesn't have the same stamina as their old donkey and that they like their old donkey they had to ride to work better. Life is good, and I love my third gen. Some people I swear probably have never even sat in a Tacoma but have read negative feedback and now have formed a negative opinion lol.

Complaints about the 3rd gen are not limited to this site.

A few days ago I was chatting with a co-worker who bought a 3rd gen a week after seeing mine in the parking lot.
He's not a computer guy and wasn't aware of all the online bitching... but did comment how he didn't like how the trans danced between gears going down the highway.
I told him about the 62-18 TSB and suggested he get it done at his 5k service.

Shifting issues aside, there's nothing wrong with these trucks. I think alot of the problems can be corrected with the TSB update, ECT mod, pedal commander and steady diet of 93 octane fuel.
Mine has been running like a raped ape lately on 93 octane... even with the bigger shoes on. Can't wait to try a pedal commander/sprint booster.

 

See, I thought Quantum Field Theory too....
